Lisa Marie Marcum Williams, age 33 of Inez, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at Boone Memorial Hospital in Madison, West Virginia. Born July 31, 1980 in Huntington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of James Marum of Inez and the late Lisa Marcum. In addition to her father, she is survived by her step mother, Maggie; three daughters, Elizabeth Brooke Williams of Inez, Sierra and Tierra Williams both of Kermit; one brother, Jimmy Dale Marcum of Lovely; her paternal grandfather, Ray Marcum; three ½ brothers, T.C. Maynard of Beauty, Joshua Marcum and Brett Marcum both of Inez.
Funeral services will be 12pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Marcum Family Cemetery at Lovely. Donnie Marcum will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-9pm Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Larry David Messer, age 48 of Kermit, WV passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his home. Born June 25, 1965 in Huntington, West Virginia, he was the son of Martha Messer Reece of Kermit and the late Sterling Reece. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by grand parents, Tom and Elizabeth Messer. He is survived by his mother, Martha; one brother, James Thomas (Jennifer) Reece of Ashville, North Carolina; one sister, Michelle (Joshua) Adkins of Kermit; two uncles, Jennings and Riley Messer; three aunts, Edna Marcum, Goldie Johnson, and Nettie Messer; and three nieces, Bella, Casey, and Laree.
Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Walnut Grove Church of Christ on Jennies Creek with burial to follow in the Perry Point Cemetery also on Jennies Creek. Bruce Justice will officiate. Friends may visit the church after 3pm Sunday and prior to the service on Monday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Barbara Ann Castle Pugh, age 75 of Paintsville, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 in Steubenville, Ohio after an extended illness. Born June 14, 1939 to the late Clarence and Cynthia Auxier Castle. Barbara was married to the late Danny Pugh in 1960. The two were happily married for 53 years. She is survived by three sons, Douglas William Pugh, Darrell Wesley Pugh and David Westin Pugh all of Paintsville; five grandsons, Daniel Warren Pugh, Darrell Wesley Pugh II, Daric Westin Pugh, Darion Seth Pugh, and Dylan Welch Pugh; one grand daughter, Rebecca “Meg” Margaret Pugh; and two daughters in law, Barbara Burchett Pugh and Jennifer Pugh.
She was the proud owner of Castle's Jewelry and Gifts and a member of Mayo Methodist Church of Paintsville. Barbara was also a member of Eastern Star, and was former State Chaplin of Kentucky for the Daughters of the American Revolution (“DAR”).
Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Mayo Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 3-9pm Tuesday and after 9am Wednesday. John Hatton will officiate. She will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mayo Methodist Church by contacting the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, 789-8989.

Paul Douglas Childers, age 87 of Paintsville, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at his home. Born April 3, 1927 in Boyd County to the late James Russell and Lucy Salyer Childers. In additon to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, James Earl, Charles, and Lon Childers; and one sister, Margarett Childers. He is survived by his wife Orpha Mae Salyer Childers; one son, Bryan Douglas (Carolyn) Childers of Flat Gap; four daughters, Judy Montgomery of Paintsville, Cheryl (Wes) Blair of Hager Hill, Paula Fields of Paintsville, Martha Wells of East Point; two sisters, Verna Mae Pelphrey and Virginia Conley of Paintsville. Eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive. Paul was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville. Joe Adkins, Steve Rose, and Terry Salyers will officiate. Military honors will be performed by the Chapter 18 Auxier DAV. Friends may visit the funeral home from 5-9pm on Sunday and 9am-9pm on Monday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

Jason Neal Blair, age 24 of Paintsville, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Magoffin County. He was born February 12, 1990 in Ashland to Obie Neal Blair and Mollie VanHoose Blair. He is preceded in death by one grandfather, Carl Blair and one grandmother, Vearlissia VanHoose. He is survived by his wife, Jessica Heinrich Blair; his unborn daughter, Teagan Neal Blair; one brother, Paul Anthony Blair of Nippa; one sister, Sabrina (Nathan) Hayden of Meally; one grandmother, Ella Louise Blair; one grandfather, Kermit VanHoose; two brothers in law, Cody Hall and Daniel Hall and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews and brother and sister firefighters.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, June 22, 2014 in the Johnson County Middle School Gymnasium, Jason Blair will lie in state 2 hours prior to services, with burial to follow in the Blair - VanHoose Cemetery at Nippa, KY. Delores Cline, age 73 of Grayson, formerly of Inez, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Born January 2, 1941 in Martin County to the late Bill and Fern Stepp Preece. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one son, Johnny Ray Cline. She is survived by two sons, Jimmie Paul (Teresa) Cline and Bobby Lee (Debbie) Cline both of Catlettsburg; one brother, Billy Ray (Maggie) Preece of Louisa; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1pm Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Stepp Cemetery at Pilgrim. Jim Sherman will officiate. Willie Blackburn, age 78 of Inez, went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2014 at home surrounded by family. He was a retired coal miner, loving husband, father and grand father. Born October 9, 1935 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Will and Martha Maynard Blackburn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Albert, Adrien, Dike, James, and Jessie Blackburn; sisters, Janie Preece and Gracie Hinkle; and great grandson, Hunter Allen Blackburn. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Laura Belle Jude Blackburn; sons, Willie Jr. “Beadie” (Darlene) Blackburn and Frankie (Barbara) Blackburn both of Ulysses, Mitchell (Tonya) Blackburn of Inez, Raymond (Debbie) Blackburn of Logan, WV, and Troy “TK” (Stephanie) Blackburn of Delbarton, WV; daughters, Truly “Sissy” (Gary) Mahon of Long Bottom, Ohio, Mary Lou (Truman) Maynard of Beauty, Vernaye (Jimmy) Maynard of Delbarton, WV, and Avonna (Ed) Tiller of Sevierville, TN; sisters, Irene (Frank) Mayhorn of Grove City, Ohio, Frances Lambert and Helen Morgan both of Columbus, Ohio, and Maggie Woolsey of Spencer, WV; twenty nine grandchildren, and twenty two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rosella Marie Perry McCoy (Ro-Ro), age 51 of Dunlow, WV went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was born November 1, 1962 in Columbus, OH to Albert and Minerva Perry of Dunlow. She worked many years at Wal-Mart in South Williamson, KY until becoming ill with her heart condition. She was also a 15 year cancer survivor. She enjoyed making everyone she knew laugh as well as crafting and gardening. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Alma Baisden and General and Lydia Perry; one brother, Jason Perry; one brother-in-law, Fig Marcum; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Perry. In addition to her parents she is survived by her grandfather, Woodrow Baisden; life-long companion, David Whitt; two sons, Josh McCoy and Coty Whitt, all of Kermit; two beloved nieces that she helped raise, Kaitlyn Dillon and Hillary Muncy, along with many others that she helped with; two brothers, Clayton (Pat) Perry of Kermit, Norman Perry of Breeden; four sisters, Alma (Mitchell) Hinkle of Delbarton, Crystal (Randy) Gilman of Kermit, Katrina Bacha of Dunlow, and Tessa Perry of Breeden; along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles that will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will be held 11am, Sunday, June 8, 2014 at the Old Jennies Creek United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the General Perry Cemetery at Kermit, WV. Freddie Messer, Jr. will officiate. Friends may visit the church after 5pm on Friday, and all day Saturday. Funeral arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.
