Kathleen Holbrook Daniels of Williamsport, KY passed this life at Mountain Manor Nursing Home on October 30, 2014 at 8:15am, being 93 years, 6 months, and 21 days old. She was born at Bob's Branch, KY on March 9, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Keenis and Exer Ward Holbrook of Williamsport, KY. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Dorothy Childers of Thelma, KY, Pauline McDowell of Blaine, KY, Doris Lee of Point Pleasant, WV, Betty Ward of Groveport, OH, Juanita Preston and Gwen Williamson of Williamsport, KY; one grandchild, Krista Kay Rice of Oil Springs, KY. She is survived by one brother, Keenis Holbrook, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH.
She was married to Hobert Peery Daniels on December 24, 1937 and to this union was born five children; Doug Daniel and wife Easter of Catlettsburg, KY; Rosa Rice and husband, J.D.of Oil Springs, KY; Dan Daniels and wife Patty of Walton, KY; Brad Daniels and wife Debbie of Tutor Key, KY; and Sharon Cassity and husband Dan of St. Augustine, FL.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.
She was saved at the age of fourteen and was a member of the Concord United Baptist Church. She remained at true and faithful member and at the time of her passing she was the oldest member in age and in membership.
Funeral services will be held 2pm Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Concord United Baptist Church at Thelma. Elders Freddie Salyers, Dewey Mac Mullins, J.D. Rice, and Marcus Caudill presiding. Interment will be at the Family Cemetery at Thelma. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5-9pm Friday, 1-9pm Saturday and after 1pm Sunday at the church. Judy Cumbo, age 76 of Inez, Kentucky passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at her home. Born April 24, 1938 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late William and Ila Ward Stepp. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Niles Cumbo; her daughter, Beverly Ferguson; two grand daughters, Hillary Brooke and Miranda Shea; one brother, William Elmer Stepp; and two sister, Lucille Wells and Billie Jean Mills. Judy is survived by her son, Brian Cumbo of Inez, Kentucky; one brother, Gery Stepp of Inez, Kentucky; and two sisters, Deanna Damron of Inez, Kentucky and Betty Helms of Pikeville, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be 2pm Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Cumbo Family Cemetery at Inez. Elzva Fletcher, age 83 of Inez, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Community Hospice of Ashland. Born April 19, 1931 in Martin County to the late Elias and Mary Belle Maynard. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver Maynard, Robert Maynard, John Henry Maynard; one granddaughter, Chloe Elizabeth Bowen. She is survived by her husband, Ked Fletcher; two sons, Charlie(Charlotte) Fletcher of Pilgrim, Luther(Ethel) Flether of Inez; three daughters, Margie(Randy) Bowen of Pilgrim Josephine(Brady) Robinson of Pilgrim, Marsha(Eric) Jude of Pilgrim; one sister, Olga Fletcher of Pilgrim. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fletcher – Jude Cemetery at Pilgrim. Hattie Mills Crum, age 90 of Inez, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa. Born July 30, 1924 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace Hinkle Mills. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Crum, Sr; sons, Alvin Jimmy, Isaac Jr, and Paul David; granddaughter, Tonda Crum; two brothers, James Mills, Jr and Ersel Mills; and sister, Blanche Mills. She is survived by two sons, Lonnie Ersel (Candy) Crum and John Gregory (Linda) Crum of Inez, Kentucky; three daughters, Hollis Ann (Carl) Smith of Red Bush, KY, Sonja Kay Wright of Nicholasville, KY, and Greta (James) Shepherd of Inez; two brothers, Clifford Mills of Rushville, Ohio and Walter Wade (Rosanna) Mills of Inez; eleven grandchildren, James (Karen) Crum, Jennifer (Tommy) Coley, Kimberly K. (Terril) Crum, Andrea (Shelvie) Booth, Christopher (Carrie) Smith, Carla McCarty, Michael Wright, April Wright, John G. Crum, Jr, Kimberly Dawn (Carlos Gentille) Shepherd, and David Clinton Crum; twenty one great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren also survive.

Tonda Patton, age 57 of Paintsville, Kentucky formerly of Kermit, West Virgina, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born August 9, 1957 in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Oba Patton and Betty Livering Hundley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Goshert; and two sisters, Lynn Stepp and Roxanne Patton. She is survived by three sons, Quentin Bailey, Dustin Patton and James Patton all of Paintsville, KY; two brothers, Oba Patton of Ohio and Hubert Hundley of Wayne, WV; two sisters, Amey Ball and Alice Patton both of Kermit, WV; four grandchildren, Tatyana Bell, Tyra Bell, Mikayla Bailey, and Damien Patton; and one great grandson, Noah Johnson.

Lee Haney, age 87, of Inez passed away Thursday October 16, 2014 at Highland Regional Medical Center. Born November 02, 1926 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Elbert and Ida Horn Haney .In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Oledia Haney; one sister, Romaine Haney. He is survived by one son, Pinky Lee (Elizabeth) Haney of Inez; one daughter, Diana Haney of Prestonsburg, Ky; one sister, Dora Castle of St. Albans, WV; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Lois Jean McCoy Belcher, age 76 of Orient, Ohio formerly of Inez, passed away Wednesday in Ohio. Born April 16, 1938 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Tracy and Hazel Fluty McCoy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Ed, Tom, Claude, Paul and Bobby McCoy; and one sister, Betty Short. She is survived by her husband, William B. Belcher; one son, William G. (Pamela) Belcher of Grove City, Ohio; three daughters, Carol Jean (Chris) Pinkerman of Boca Raton, Florida, Cathy L. Belcher of Grove City, Ohio, and Pamela (Brian) Weiss of Orient, Ohio; four brothers, Earnest and Floyd McCoy both of Inez, Kentucky, Clyde McCoy of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and Roger McCoy of Columbus, Ohio; five sisters, Edith Davis of Wheelersburg, Pat Fitch, Viloet Miller and Peggy Fannin all of Inez, and Wanda Hatfield of Columbus; four grandchildren, Ryan Wihl of Orient, Ohio, Amanda Belcher of Grove City, Ohio, Peyton and Paige Weiss of Orient, Ohio; twenty six nieces and nephews, fifty three great nieces and nephews, and thirty six great great nieces and nephews also survive.

Ernest Barker, age 85 of Van Lear, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his home. Born October 5, 1929 in Van Lear he was the son of the late Jarrett and Julia Carroll Barker. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Patty May Barker {2002}; three brothers, Walter, Earl, and Emery Barker; and one sister, Ina Barker Lemaster. He is survived by three sons, Michael Barker of Van Lear, Lundy Barker of Van Lear, Martin (Tammie) Barker of Van Lear; three daughters, Jackie (Darell) Sicely of Paintsville, Bernadine Mims of Pikeville, April (Richard) Blankenship of Thelma; eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. Ernest was a proud United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War where he earned a Bronze Star.

Kenneth David Kretzer, age 54 of Van Lear, Ky., passed away Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Ky. Born October 28, 1959 in Johnson County, Ky. He was the son of the late Burdette Kretzer and Louise King of Van Lear, Ky. In addition to his mother he is also survived by, two daughters; Adriana Dawn Kretzer of Paintsville, Ky., and Shelley Williams of Salyersville, Ky., one sister; Madonna Rose of Flat Gap, Ky., three brothers; Bill Kretzer of Winchester, Ky., Doug Kretzer of Betsy Lane, Ky., and Binky Kretzer of Thelma, Ky., and three grandchildren.

Sherman O'niel Preece, 50, beloved son of Betty Mills Preece went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana.
Sherman was born May 18, 1964 to Betty Mills Preece and the late John Henry Preece in Paintsville, Kentucky. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Henry Preece; his grandmother, Delphia McCoy Preece; grandfather, Ebb Mills, Jr; and grandmother, Wilhelmean Ward Mills. Also preceding Sherman in death were four uncles, Avery, James Harvey, Bill Joe, and Sherman Thomas; and five aunts, Lillian, Parlee, Mary, Ann, and Hazel. He is survived by his mother, Betty; sister, Jeanetta; nephew, Seth; his special friend, Ernie Fannin; and also many nieces nephews, and cousins.
Sherman was a member of Inez First Baptist Church where he was an official greeter and usher. He has worked at Auxier Greenhouse in Prestonsburg since he was 21 years old.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Sherman's life at Phelps & Son Funeral Home in Inez on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 12pm to 9pm. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Kraft-Graceland Memorial in New Albany, Indiana at 1:30pm with burial to follow. Diana Bowen, age 48, of Louisa, Ky. passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center. Born December 31, 1965 in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Merlian Muncy and Sylvia Varney of Livingston, Ky.
In addition to her mother Diana was also survived by he husband, Tommy Bowen of Louisa, Ky ; two daughters, Alicia Dalton and Tamika Fitch both of Inez, Ky.; one brother Michael Muncy of Georgia ; two sisters; Elizabeth Washburn of Livingston, Ky. And Tammy Richards of Paducah, Ky., and nine grandchildren.

Born December 6, 1967 in Johnson County, he was the son of Tommy and Mildred Salyer Cantrell of Sitka. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Belinda Kimbler Cantrell; one son, Chad Leighton Cantrell of Sitka; one daughter, Latoya Leigh Austin of Tazwell, Virginia; three brothers, Thomas Cantrell and Dickey Cantrell both of Sitka, and Michael Cantrell of Meally; one sister, Betty Ann Herron of North Lewisburg, Ohio; one grandchild, Conner Lee Austin; and his paternal grandmother, Clora Cantrell of Sitka also survives.

Roosevelt (Junior) Moore, age 60 of Inez, passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born January 18, 1954 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Roosevelt and Lucy Mills Moore. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Roosevelt Moore Jr; and one brother, Lacy Moore. He is survived by three sons, Nathan Moore, Jeffery Moore, and Shawn (Mattie) Moore all of Inez; four brothers, McKinley Moore of Lovely, Jona Moore of Inez, Eugene Moore of Pilgrim, and Ballard Moore of Inez; six sisters, Dorothy Robinson, Kennie Preece, and Arizona Horn all of Inez, Virgie Muncy and Addie Farley both of Ulysses, and Judy Cline of Logan, Ohio; five grandchildren, Shawn Michael Moore, Kaitlyn Moore, Braxton Moore, Brayden Moore, and Destiny Moore; and a special friend, Norma Moore.
Junior was a retired coal miner and will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Alfred Floyd Hager, age 58 of Dunlow, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord Friday, October 3, 2014 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa. Born October 20,1955 in Breeden West Virginia, he was the son of Belle Perry Kirk of Dunlow, West Virginia and the late Riley Floyd Hager. In addition to his father, he is preceeded in death by one sister, Lydia Meade. He is survived by his mother Belle Kirk; his wife of 38 years, Judy Block Hager; one son, Jason (Jennifer) Hager of Breeden West Virginia; one daughter, Velvet (Dennis) Maynard of Crum West Virginia; three sisters, Cloie Ann (John) Perry of Virginia, Sharon Preston of Dunlow and Ruth (Tyson) Preece of Kermit; and one grandson, Austin Maynard; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara Butcher, age 70 of Williamsport, Kentucky passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Hospice of Huntington. Born June 30, 1944 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Shirl and Mary Collins Spence. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ray Butcher, two sons; Harrison Ray and Robert Neal Butcher,one brother; Roy Spence, one sister; Pearl Spears Litton and one Grandson. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Sue Butcher of Williamsport; one son, Kenneth M. Butcher of Williamsport; three brothers, Don Spence, Sammy Spence, and Albert Spence all of Tomahawk; three sisters, Bessie Anderson of Tomahawk, Minnie Sue Smith and Ruby Dheel both of Louisa; and three grandchildren also survive.
