Diane Sue Harmon, age 68 of Martin County, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at her residence. Born December 13, 1947 in Columbus ,Ohio to the late Pollyanna Harmon. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Bartlett; and one brother, Thomas Harmon.
She is survived by three sons, Michael (Laura) Harmon of Louisa, KY, Ronald and Gary Harmon both of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Malissa and Nicole Harmon both of Louisa, KY; four brothers, James Harmon of Columbus, Ohio and Dennis Harmon of Columbus, Ohio, Terry Harmon of Lexington, KY, Kenneth (Cathy) Harmon of Quinlan, Texas; one sister, Nancy Cunningham of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Joseph Harmon, Alexandria Evans, Nyonia Purdue, Rylan Harmon, Isaiah Harmon, Haylee Harmon, Haden Harmon, and Kaden Harmon. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 11am to 12:30pm at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Harmon-Harless Cemetery, Louisa. Arrangments are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Ricky Lemaster, age 61 of Prestonsburg, formerly of Staffordsville, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born January 7, 1955 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Frank Lemaster and Cova Blevins Lemaster. In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Lemaster Jr and Everett Lemaster; and two sisters, Sue Hall and Edith Martin. He is survived by his wife, Pat Rorrer Lemaster; one son, Ricky William Lemaster of Staffordsville; one daughter, Jessica Risner of Prestonsburg; four brothers: Freddie and Ronnie Allen Lemaster both of Staffordsville, Gene Lemaster of Glasgow, KY and Charles Lemaster of Warsaw, Indiana; one sister, Anita Jo Hall of Staffordsville; three grandchildren: Zack Clark, Ricky William Lemaster II and Cova Risner; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 2pm Sunday, May 1, 2016 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Family Cemetery at Auxier. Jimmy Borwn will officaite. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 10am to 2pm Sunday prior to the service. Orgie Howard, age 70 of Pilgrim, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at her residence. Born October 6, 1945 to the late James and Zella Meade Preece. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Phillips. She is survived by one son, George Howard of Pilgrim; two daughters, Karen Delong and Bridgette Lowe both of Pilgrim; two brothers, George Preece of Pilgrim, R.J. Preece of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Tiny Fields of Columbus, Ohio. Five grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Buck Branch Church with burial to follow in the Howard Family Cemetery, Pilgrim. Ruby Lee Blanton, age 88 of Staffordsville, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Born November 14, 1927 in Johnson County to the late George Clinton Meade and Martha Williams Meade. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Oakley Blanton {12/11/2014}; one son, Scottie Lee Blanton; along with several brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Tim Blanton of Burkesville, KY; four grandchildren, Sammy (Chrissy Baldridge) Blanton, Megan Litteral, Timothy A. Blanton, Kailey Blanton and four great grandchildren, Lauren Paige Blanton, Braylan Reece Caudill, Joe Baldridge, and Sierra Baldridge.
Funeral services will be held 11am Friday, April 29, 2016 at the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Staffordsville Church Cemetery. Harold Lee Messer, Sr. age 55 of Dunlow, WV passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Hospice of Huntington. Born September 16, 1960 in Mingo County, he was the son of the late William Riley and Sarah Bell Messer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Tiney and Johnnie Boy Messer. He is survived by his wife, Mary Reed Messer; two sons: Harold (Missy) Messer, Jr of Genoa, WV and Ervan Duffey, Jr of Cambridge, Ohio; three daughters: Lola Newsome of Delbarton, WV, Crystal Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio and Carrie Duffey of Cambridge, Ohio; three brothers: Riley (Emma) of Genoa, Columbus (Janice) Messer of Cleveland, and James (Donna) Messer of Ft Gay, WV; two sisters: Mary Ellen (Lloyd) Messer of Genoa and Alice (Randy) Messer also of Genoa; mother and father in law: Ronald and Faye Reed of Ohio; sisters in law: Ronda Mullins of Ohio, Terri Reed of Cleveland; brothers in law: Ronald Reed of Michigan and Tony Reed of Ohio; two very special friends: Elizabeth Marcum and Linda Bowman; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survives.

Lana Perry, age 62 of Louisa, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at her residence. Born January 5, 1954 in Lawrence County, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Dorothy Short Evans. She is survived by her husband, Arnold Perry; four sons, Matthew Perry of Louisa, Nicholas Perry of Wayne County, West Virginia, Adam Perry of Louisa, and William Perry Jr. of Fort Gay, West Virginia; one daughter, Dorothy Delong of Fort Gay, West Virginia; two brothers, Cecil Evans of Louisa and Ralph Evans of Inez. Fifteen grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at New Friendship United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Short – Evans Cemetery at Louisa. Greg Caudill will officiate. John Paul Salyer, age 82 of West Van Lear, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Paul B. Hall Regional Hospital in Paintsville. Born March 20, 1934 in Johnson County to the late Hodley and Maudie Johnson Salyer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Luke Salyer; one daughter, Tanna Meek; two sisters, Pauline Preston and Marie Witten. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Horn Salyer; three sons, John Salyer of Florida, Mark Salyer of Paintsville, and Matthew Salyer of Paintsville; two brothers, Edgell Salyer of Dayton, Ohio and Brooksie Salyer of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
John Paul was a United States Air Force Veteran and proudly served in the Korean War. He was a retired minister and Law Enforcement Officer. In addition, he was a member of the DAV, Big Sandy Chapter 18, Auxier, KY.
Funeral services will be held 1pm Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Military Honors will be conducted by the DAV, Big Sandy Chapter 18, Auxier, KY. Roy Penix will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6-8pm Saturday. Constance Sheldon, age 78 of Pilgrim, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at her residence. Born May 19, 1937 in Dudley, Mass. she was the daughter of the late Anatole LeBoeuf and Rosealda Rouleau. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one son; James R. Bandlow and one grandson; Gary LeCour Jr.
She is survived by one son; Robert P. Bandlow Jr. of Warfield, Ky., one daughter Patricia Rush of Pilgrim, Ky., one grandson; Nicholas (Emily) LeCour of Wittensville, Ky., and one great- grandson Connor LeCour of Wittensville, Ky.
According to her wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

Ruby Maynard Howell, age 85 of Inez, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Martin County Health Care Facility in Inez. Born May 22, 1930 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Maynard and Roxie Blackburn Maynard. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Toney Howell {April 24, 2011}; one son, Roger Lee Howell; three sons-in-law, Kenneth Campbell, George Pauley, John Chapman; five brothers, Jesse, Virgil, Jasper, Elias, and Wade Maynard; four sisters, Lassie Fletcher, Ollie Preece, Oretha Cline, and Justine Hannah. She is survived by four sons, Donald (Linda) Howell of Inez, Eddie (Shelia) of Inez, Sammy (Tammy) Howell of Louisa, Leslie Howell of Louisa; four daughters, Hazel Campbell of Inez, Linda Pauley of Pilgrim, Ernestine (Grady Joe) Pack of Louisa, and Jo Ann Chapman of Louisa; one sister, Ernestine Horn of Inez; fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Delores Sword Woody, age 82 of Tutor Key, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at her home. Born August 23, 1933 in Floyd County, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Jim Bob Sword and Nola Blevins Sword. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Woody {Sept.23, 2015}; two brothers, Jim and Charles Sword; one sister, Sylvia Six. She is survived by her son, Dr. Keith Woody and wife Katie of Tutor Key; two sisters, Daphyne McNamee and husband Ronnie of Grove City, Ohio, Elsie Glandon and husband, Doc of Chillicothe, Ohio; one grandson, Chad Woody and wife Felicia; two great grandsons, Logan and Dalton Woody; two sisters-in-law, Sue Sword and Midge Sword; two brothers-in-law, Darryl Woody and Charlie Six. A host of nieces and nephews also survive along with a special friend and caretaker, Garnet Armstrong.
Delores was a member of the Wheelwright Freewill Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was retired from the Floyd County School System where she taught for 32 years.
A celebration of life will be held 11am Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Ronald Blankenship, age 66 of Inez, Ky., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his residence. Born January 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Buddy and Lucille Blankenship. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Martha Ann (Blankenship) Maynard.
He is survived by his loving wife Helen Donna (Dials) Blankenship, of Inez, one daughter; Rhonda Kay Blankenship of Inez, one son; Jason Albert Blankenship, of Georgetown, Ky., and one beautiful granddaughter, Gabrielle Rene Blankenship of Inez, two sisters; Lynn (Cotton) Maynard, and Karen (Jerry) Tramel both of Inez, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ronald was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was a member of the Inez Church of Christ. He served two years in the United States Army, in Vietnam.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, April 14, 2016 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Dials Cemetery, Inez. Donald (Gene) Sesco, age 76 of Inez, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Born July 17, 1939 in Martin County to the late Millard and Gracie Bowen Sesco. Surviving is his wife of 53 years Creta Spence Sesco; two sons, William and Mike Sesco both of Inez; one brother, Tom Sesco of Ashville, Ohio; three sisters, Geraldine Morrison and Dorothy Holcom both of Columbus, Ohio, Cora LeMaster of Flat Gap. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 1pm Friday, April 15, 2016 in the chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Sesco Cemetery, Inez. Lonnie Ratliff and Tommy Meade will officiate. Windell “Nig” Blanton, age 92 of Paintsville, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Born October 27, 1923 in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Dock Blanton and Verna Crace Blanton. In addition to his parents, Nig is preceded in death by oneson: Bobby Blanton; one daughter: Sandra Abrams; two brothers: Jim Crace and Hershell Blanton; one sister: Juanita Horn; and one grandchild: Scotty Abrams. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Holbrook Blanton; three sons: John Michael (and Teresa) Blanton of Grove City, Ohio, Terry Windell Blanton of Paintsville, and Brian David (and Amy) Blanton of Dayton, Ohio; four daughters: Debbie Blanton of Paintsville, Judy (and Jimmy) Frazier of Staffordsville, Barb Vanhoose of Paintsville and Nikki (and Jessie) McCarty of Cocoa Beach, Florida; one son in law, Sam Abrams; one brother: Robert Blanton of Paintsville; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren also survive.
He was a World War II Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Funeral services will be 11am Friday, April 15, 2016 at the First Freewill Baptist Church on Third Street with burial to follow in the Staffordsville Church Cemetery. Thomas Dean (Harpo) Harmon, age 66 of Paintsville, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 at his residence. Born December 29, 1949 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Quill and Aretta Stapleton Harmon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a very special companion, Rebecca Carroll Dausman; two brothers: Charles Harmon and Quill Dickie Harmon; four sisters: Betty Smith, Neva Griffith, Pat Skiles, and Brenda Thompson. He is survived by one sister, Mary Sue Harmon Williams of Oil Springs; the children of his companion: Brian and Emily; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Harpo was a former instructor at the Job Corps, a United States Army Veteran and an avid UK fan.

Bobby Joe Horn, age 65 of Inez, Ky., passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at his residence. Born August 27, 1950 in Martin County he was the son of the late Riley Sr. and Frances Crum Horn. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by by one brother Ronald Gene Horn.
He is survived by one son; Bobby Joe Jr. (Rachel Kinser) Horn of Inez, one daughter; Melissa Gail (Arthur Bowen) Slone of Inez, two brothers; Riley Jr. and Conley Horn both of Inez, two sisters; Patricia Gail Thorne of Portland, Oregon and Deirdre Moore of Carolton, Ky. And six grandchildren; Cody Michael Kirk, Mason and Trey Gordon, Alexis Slone, Aidian Horn and Coty Phelps, a special friend Sharon Harmon of Inez, and mother to his children Mary Horn Estep.
He was a retired coal miner and a United States Veteran.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Family Cemetery at Cassell Branch. James "Jim" Thomas Preston, age 68 of Hager Hill, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born June 4, 1947 in Johnson County to the late Tom and Garnett Cantrell Preston. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one nephew, Kyle Preston. He is survived by two brothers, David Scott Preston of Hager Hill, Mike Preston of Georgetown, Ohio; two nephews, Andrew Preston of Lafayette, Indiana, and Orrin Preston of Georgetown, Ohio; and cousin, Jean McKenzie of Thelma. Jim was a United States Army Veteran and served proudly in the Vietnam War.
