     Wilburn “Tankman” Osborne, age 78 of Ulysses, Ky., formerly of Martin County, Ky., passed away Thursday, August, 31, 2017 at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, Ky. Born June 2, 1939 in Martin County, Ky., he was the son of the Late Carlos and Gladys Dempsey Osborne. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two sons: Teddy and Charlie Jude, one daughter Melissa Carter, one brother: Columbus Osborne and two sisters: Susie Maynard and Virginia Daniels.

    He is survived by his significant other: Victoria Carter of Ulysses, Ky., four sons: Johnny (Connie) Osborne of Ulysses, Ky., Brian (Pat) Carter, Matthew Carter, and Clinton Jude Jr., three daughters: Loretta (Joey) Moore of Lomansville, Ky., Marlena Farmer of Ulysses, Ky., and Danyelle Miller of Ulysses, Ky., one sister: Juanita Dutton of Pikeville, Ky., twenty one grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

    Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Vineyard United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Osborne Family Cemetery at Ulysses, Ky. Willie Hayes an T.C. Cantrell will officiate. Friends can visit after 6:00 pm Thursday, August 31, 2017 and until time of services at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

     Don Stambaugh, age 80 of Sitka, Kentucky, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville.

Born April 29, 1937 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Taylor Stambaugh and Ruth Brown Stambaugh. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by four brothers: Eugene Stambaugh, Minnard Stambaugh, Sam Stambaugh and John Stambaugh; and one sister, Pauline Jones. He is survived by one sister, Rudell McCann of Cincinnati, Ohio and several nieces and nephews also survive.

     A Graveside Service will be held 1:00pm Friday September 1, 2017 at the Brown Family Cemetery located on Route 1559 - Sitka, Kentucky. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 10:00am to 12:30pm Friday September 1, 2017. Tim Stambaugh and Lionel Burchett will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

     Linda G. Chapman, age 63, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. She was born on March 14, 1954 in Warfield, KY. Surviving family includes husband, Toby Chapman; children, Melinda (Brian) Chapman, Toby Jr. (Sara) Chapman; grandchildren, Zackary Kennedy and Austin Treneff; sisters, Anna Blevins, Sue (Todd) Hall and Carol Chaffin; best friend and aunt, Rachel Carter; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Wallace and Nellie Chaffin; brothers, Wallace "Jake" Chaffin, Henry "Toot" Chaffin and David Chaffin; granddaughter, Candy Chapman.

     Visitation will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123 and from 5-8 pm Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Big Elk United Baptist Church, Inez, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Big Elk United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Chapman Family Cemetery, Inez, KY.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, Grove City , Ohio, and the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez, Ky.

    Mark A. Bowen, a loving husband, son and brother was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the age of 39. He was born March 25, 1978 in Louisa, Ky., to the late Jessie Lee Bowen and Debra Goble Johnson of Inez, Ky. In addition to his father he is also preceded in death by paternal grandparents Noah and Magdalene Bowen and maternal grandparents Jack Ivan and Lavon Goble.

     Mark is survived by his best friend and wife of one year and seven months, Linda Lee Bowen of Inez, Ky., loving mother Debra and step-father William Johnson of Inez, Ky., two brothers: Nathan (Marie)Bowen of Louisa, Ky., and Ryan Johnson of Inez, Ky., and one sister: Ealita (Tim) Stumbo of McDowell, Ky., and several nieces, nephews and friends.

    Mark was a light to his family, friends and so many others. He is loved and will be missed by many.   

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 29,2017 at the Vineyard United Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Goble Cemetery, Louisa Ky., Richard “Doc” Maynard and Dave Bowen will officiate. Friends can visit the church after 5:00 pm Sunday and until time of services on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

      Barbara L. Stamper, age 60 of Lackey, Kentucky passed away Thursday August 24, 2017 at Golden Years Rest Home in Lackey. Born October 17, 1956 in Dawson, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jack R. Stamper and Margie Odom Stamper. In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by three sisters: Carol R. Koren, Exie Lee Stanley and Etta Faye Stamper.

     She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Osborne, and husband Kelly of Van Lear; one son, William R. Smith, and wife Tiffany of Texas; one brother, Jack Stamper of West Liberty; one sister, Linda Waryk, and husband, Tim of Buffalo, New York; and three grandchildren also survive.

     Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Sunday with a funeral service at 7:00pm. Steve Rose will officiate. Burial will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

      Betty W. Spradlin, age 83 of Prestonsburg, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Born December 25, 1933 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Rolla Wagner and Jean Marshall Wagner. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers: James Wagner and Bill Wagner; two sisters: Jerry Burke and Marge Webb. She is survived by one son: James Spradlin of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; two daughters: Jennie Ekleberry of Churchill, Tennessee and Paula Ferrell of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; two brothers: Paul Wagner of Ravenna, Ohio and Doug Wagner of Lockport, New York. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

     Graveside services will be held 11am Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Highland Memorial Park. Friends may visit at the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5-9pm on Sunday. Funeral arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

     Betty (Meade) Jenkinson, age 76 of Van Lear, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Mountain Manor of Paintsville. Born October 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Merle Meade and Beatrice Meddings Meade. She is survived by two sons, David Edward Blair and Kenneth Lawrence Blair; two brothers, Charles Thomas Meade of Van Lear and Michael Dean Meade of Minnesota; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

     A Graveside Service will be held 4:00pm Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Father Hoppenjans will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Arrangements are under the directionof the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.

     Oscar Darrell Moore, age 56 of Lovely, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Born January 7, 1961 in Paintsville to the late Oscar Moore and Myrtle Fluty Moore. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Kim Moore. He is survived by two brothers, Doug Moore and Randy Moore, both of Lovely; one sister Kay Fletcher and husband, Charlie of Inez.

      At the request of the family there be no public viewing or funeral service. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

     Troy Adkins, age 75 of Pike County, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born May 30, 1942, in Pikeville, Ky, to the late Earl and America Adkins of Pikeville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Earl Jr., Starkey, Phillip (Bob), Danny, and Greg; and one sister: Alene Blackburn.

     Troy graduated from Pikeville High School and soon after moved to Columbus, Ohio for work. He retired after working 30 years for Pepsi Cola as a production supervisor. After retiring, Troy moved to Waverly, Ohio and then to Kermit, WV to live with his daughter, Paula. He enjoyed his dog, Benji, watching football, Cincinnati Reds baseball and UK basketball.

     Troy is survived by one daughter: Paula Grace (Sam) Brewer of Kermit, WV., one step-daughter: Stephanie O’Harra; 5 Grandchildren: Krystal, Gabriel, Shakki, Kerrian, Isaiah; one Great grandchild Liam. He had many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

     Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, August 24, 2017 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Damron Cemetery, Stonecoal, WV.      Carol F. Smith, age 65 of Columbus, Oh., formerly of Martin County, Ky., passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.V.. Born January 16, 1952 in Martin County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Jack and Bessie Luster Smith. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one brother: Jack Smith Jr., and two sisters: Eula Fern Patrick and Dorothy Broughton.

     She is survived by one son: Shawn Osborne of Inez, Ky., one daughter: Angela (Shawn) Adkins of Pikeville, Ky.,  one sister: Vernia (Belford) Maynard of Inez, Ky., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

     Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 22, 2017 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Pilgrim, Ky. Friends can visit the funeral home on Sunday and Monday from 6-9 pm. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral costs. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

   Our mother, Edna Hoosier Spaulding went to heaven on Saturday, August 19th 2017 at 11:43AM. She was born on February 13th 1934 in Pilgrim KY to John and Nancy Moore. She has been a faithful child to the Lord since she was 33 years old. She was a member of the Church of God. She was also a former employee of the Martin County Board of Education.

     She is preceded in death by her sons, Danny A. Christian and Harlan Hoosier Jr. She is also preceded in death by her husbands Harlan Hoosier and Noah Spaulding. She is survived by her six siblings Sadie Brewer (Melvin), Ruby Pauley (Landon), Buddy Moore, Connie Moore, Robert “Bobby” Moore and Terry Moore. Three daughters, Phyllis McCoy (LeRoy) of Louisa KY, Carmitta Booth (John) of Georgetown KY, Carol Madden (Jim) of Lexington KY, and eleven grandchildren, Rhonda York, Lee McCoy, Regina Dials, Stephanie Jude, Kyle Fields, Jessica Cain, Shay Fields, David McCoy, Reese McCoy, Joshua McCoy, and Katylin McCoy,  in addition to seven great grandchildren.

     She enjoyed ministering to others about the Lord, attending church, shopping at yard sales and spending time with family and friends. During the last eighteen months of her life, she resided in Georgetown, KY close to two of her daughters and three of her grandchildren.

     Funeral services will held with John Horn and Paul Stepp officiating on 11AM Wednesday, August 23rd in the chapel of the Phelps and Son Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Moore Family Cemetery in Beauty KY. Family may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, August 22nd 2017 from 3PM - 5 PM. Family and friends may visit from 5PM – 9PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

     Sally D. Castle, age 82 of Mount Gilead, Ohio died Thursday, August 13, 2017 at Marion General Hospital. She was born on October 3, 1934 in Kentucky to the late Gus Hayes Sr. and Jessie Virginia (Daniels) Hayes. Sally worked for I.T.T. in the repair department for 25 years. She collected Baby Dolls and enjoyed going to garage sales. On June 19, 1957 Sally married Elmer “Sonny” Castle in Paintsville, KY, who preceded her in death on April 27, 2009.

     Sally is survived by a son, Elmer D. Castle of Mt. Gilead; siblings; Mabel (Denzel) Young of Ashtabula, John (Pamela) Hayes and Glen “Brock” (Betty) Hayes both of Cincinnati.

In addition to her husband and parents, Sally was preceded in death by a son, David B. Castle; three sisters: Christian Lafferty, Margarite Cantrell, and Lucille “Tootsie” McFaden; three brothers: South G. Hayes, Claude E. Hayes and Gus Hayes Jr.

     Friends may call on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Edison Enterprise Baptist Church, 3055 State Route 95 W., Edison, OH 43320. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the church with Pastor Ed Colegrove officiating.

     Another visitation in KY will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Phelps & Son Funeral Home, 3804 State Highway 321, Hager Hill, KY. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm and the burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park in Staffordsville, KY.

    Anthony Brian Conley, age 38, passed away from this life on Wednesday August 2, 2017. He was born with his twin sister Bridgette on November 29, 1978 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Kim Conley.

     He was a 1998 graduate of Johnson Central High School where he was a four year letterman in football receiving all district and regional recognition. He also participated in baseball and track & field. He married Rikki, the love of his life, on November 22, 2014, and was a wonderful father to Nellie and Paislee. He was a professional tree trimmer and owner of Heritage Tree Services, and was a well loved team member at Texas Roadhouse in Ashland. Anthony enjoyed spending time with his large extended family, playing golf, and was a lifelong fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and all NFL football.

Anthony overcame many obstacles in his life, gave his life to Jesus Christ, and was well loved by all who knew the man he had become. His gentle soul and his love for life, laughter, friends, and family will be missed.

     He is survived by his mother, Kim Music Conley; his wife, Rikki Conley; daughters, Nellie Allen and Paislee Conley; sisters Bridgette Conley, Samantha Music-Blevins, Alexis Keesee and Oliva Keesee; unlce Todd Conley; and several cousins and other family memebers also survive.

     Sylvester Newsome, age 70 of Debord, Ky., passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Three Rivers Medical Center. Born November 1, 1947 in Martin County to the late Brose Newsome and Liza Ward. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by several bothers and sisters.

    He is survived by two sisters: Shelby Jean Jarrett of Debord, Ky and Mary Crum of Rockcastle, Ky; two sons: Donald Newsome of Florida and Ronald Newsome of Ohio; one daughter: Angela DePetris of Florida; 8 Grandchildren, 2 Great grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

    Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with the burial to follow in the Family Cemetery at Debord. Walter Dutton and Issac Rowland will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6-9pm Saturday and until time of services on Sunday.      Toni Annarose Staton Daniel , age 47 of Tomahawk, Ky., passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Born June 5, 1970 in Lawrence County to David Staton Jr. and the late Mavis Fletcher Staton. In addition to her mother she is preceded in death by her son: Michael Daniel.

    She is survived by her husband: Carl D. Daniel; two sisters: Tammy Daniel of Tomahawk and Misty Lyons of Blaine; two sons: Carl Daniel Jr. and Matthew Daniel both of Tomahawk, Ky.; one daughter: Sarah Daniel of Boonescamp, Ky; one daugher-in-law; Stephanie Howell Daniel of Tomahawk, Ky; one granddaughter: Dasondra Jude, WV.

   Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Sulfur Springs United Baptist Church at Tomahawk, Ky. Burial will follow in the Daniel Family Cemetery at Tomahawk. Tim Preece will officiate. Friends may visit the church on Sunday after 4pm, all day Monday, and Tuesday until time of service. Funeral arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

      Bonnie Sue Stepp, age 60 of Lovely, Ky., passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born October 29, 1956 in Williamson, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late William Amos Evans and Edna Bailey Nickels of Ashville, Ohio. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by her husband Brian Stepp and one brother: Willard Evans.
      She is survived by one son: Brandon Scott Stepp Fiance Lisa Jones of Belfry, Ky., grandchildren: Chloe, Sissy, Annie, Chrystina, One daughter: Robin( Phillip) Puckett of Williamson W.V., grandchildren Michael and Lauren two brothers: William Vell (Sue) Evans of Beaver , Ohio and John Evans of Johnstown, Ohio. Four sisters: Marcella Pat Harmon of Louisa, Ky., Melissa Howell of Ashville, Ohio, Blanch Robinson of Lovely, Ky and Lisa Neff of Johnstown, Ohio. 
      Funeral services will be held 11 am Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the Chapel of Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez with burial to folllow in the Evans Cemetery, Lovely. Jason McCartney will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home Friday and Saturday from 6 to 9 and until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.

      Ance L. Anderson, age 72 of Tomahawk, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his residence. Born December 2, 1944 in Williamson, West Virginia he was the son of the late Helen Spence Anderson. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by one daughter: Virginia Cassell; two brothers: Tommy Spence and Wade Spence.

     He is survived by his wife, Bessie M. Spence Anderson; one son: James Anderson of Tomahawk; three daughters: Loretta Harless of Tomahawk, Carla Mollett of Boonescamp, Ella Galloway of Staffordsville; one brother: Ora Spence of Tomahawk; four sisters: Dixie Hedrick of Tomahawk, Mary Hedrick of Tomahawk, Helen Cornett of Lawrence County, Senie Preston of Paintsville. Eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

     Funeral services will be held 11:00am Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the residence of Ance Anderson, 5906 Rockhouse Rd, Tomahawk, KY 41262. Scotty Mollett will officiate. Friends may visit at the residence after 2:00pm on Wednesday and until time of services on Thursday. Arrangements are by the Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Inez.
