Lavonda Carol Senters VanHoose, age 68 of West Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at her residence. Born July 1, 1950 in Logan County, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Hubert Senters and Anna Lawrence Senters. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Senters and one sister, Madonna Senters.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis Ray VanHoose of West Van Lear; three daughters: Denise (William) Terry of Oil Springs, Donna (Tim) Williams of Oil Springs, and Lora VanHoose of Sevierville, Tennessee; one brother: Garry Senters of Stambaugh. Seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Friday, June 28, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Ron Joplin will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00pm-9:00pm and on Thursday from 4:00pm-9:00pm. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Karen Hitchcock May, age 39 of Paintsville, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. Born March 28, 1980 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Ronnie Hitchcock and Rose Fairchild Hitchcock.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell May of Paintsville; one son, Ethan Darrell May of Oil Springs; one daughter, Madison Rose Conley of Thelma; one brother, Ronnie Hitchcock Jr. of Norton, Kansas; one sister, Paula Hitchcock Wheeler of Winchester. One grandchild also survives.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Fairchild Cemetery at Staffordsville. Tobe Wheeler and Tim Watkins will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday after 11:00am until time of services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Curtis Dean Ramey, age 64 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Saturday June 8, 2019 at his residence.
Born November 16, 1954 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Hayes Ramey, Jr and Betty Jo (Trimble) Ramey. He is survived by his wife Rosa Lee (Honeycutt) Ramey; one daughter, Priscilla Rose Ramey of Van Lear; two brothers, Hayes Ramey III and Jerry Ramey both of Van Lear; two sisters, Brenda Ramey and Evelyn Blevins both of Van Lear; two grand daughters, Briona Leigh Flowers and Allison Dean Flowers; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Curt was a long time employee at Davis Market and a dedicated Kentucky Wildcat fan.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday June 10, 2019 at the Van Lear Freewill Baptist Church (2687 Kentucky Route 302, Van Lear, Kentucky 41265) with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Church after 5:00pm Saturday, 10:00am Sunday and until the time of service on Monday. Paul Wayne Browning and Manford Fannin will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Phelps &Son Funeral to assist with funeral expenses. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
