     Nancy Isbell, age 57 of Lexington, Kentucky passed away Saturday March 30, 2019 at her residence. Born December 20, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky she was the daughter of Samuel Maurice Isbell of Georgetown, Kentucky and the late Phyllis Gail (Webb) Isbell. In addition to her mother, Nancy is preceded in death by a brother, Captain Samuel Maurice Isbell II, United States Air Force.

 

     She is survived by her father Samuel Maurice Isbell; one brother, Mark Isbell of Lexington, Kentucky; and several cousins also survive.

 

     Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday April 6, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm Saturday prior to the service.      Tommy Pinson, age 72 of Paintsville passed away Tuesday March 26, 2019 at Huntington VA Medical Center. Born August 19, 1946 in Kermit, West Virginia he was the son of the late Roland Pinson and Dorothy (Varney) Pinson. In addition to his parents, Tommy is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Pinson.

     Mr. Pinson is survived by his wife Aunitta “Pat” (James) Pinson; one daughter, Amanda Pinson Cornett and her husband Billy of East Point, Kentucky; one son, Brian Pinson of Paintsville, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Alyssa Pinson, Peyton Cornett and Harper Cornett; three brothers and one sister also survive.

     He was a United States Navy Veteran and a retired coal miner.

     Funeral services for Mr. Pinson will be 2:00pm Friday March 29, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 1:00pm to 9:00pm Thursday and prior to the service on Friday. Keith Brumfield will officiate.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

     Ruth E. (Fraley) Butcher, age 77 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Monday March 25, 2019 at her residence. Born January 30, 1942 in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Fraley and Okie M. (Daniels) Fraley. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Fraley and Marshall Fraley.

 

     She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Chester Butcher; one daughter, Gretta Jean (Eddie) McKenzie and of Van Lear; one son, Paul Chester (Miranda) Butcher of Wittensville; one step son, Kevin Butcher of Wabash, Indiana; two brothers, William (Brenda) Fraley of West Van Lear and Ron (Nadine) Fraley of Van Lear; one sister, Alpharetta Sue Francis of Owingsville, Kentucky; three grandchilden, Ryan Daniels, Danielle McKenzie and Maverick Kyle Butcher; five great grandchildren, Alyssa Daniels, Bailey Daniels, Emma Daniels, Peyton Daniels and Luke Daniels; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.

 

     Ruth was a retired nurse of 32 years at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg and a member of the Auxier Freewill Baptist Church for many years.

 

     Funeral services will be 12:00pm Friday March 29, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Ashley Butcher Cemetery at Daniels Creek. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, 9:00am to 9:00pm Thursday and until the time of service on Friday.      Raymond Blair, age 90 of Lower Twin Branch, passed away Tuesday March 19, 2019 at his residence. Born May 19, 1928 in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Albert and Flora Ratliff Blair.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Blair and Wayne Blair; and two sisters, Dorothy Blair  and Lizzie Young.

 

     Mr. Blair is survived by his wife, Martha (May) Blair; and  one daughter, Patsy Elizabeth Blair of Hager Hill, Kentucky.

 

     Funeral services will be 11:00am Saturday March 23, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Blair Family Cemetery at Lower Twin Branch. Ruford Blair, Jerry Colvin and Doug Ward will officiate.      Josephine Elizabeth Hopson, age 79 of Hager Hill, Kentucky passed away Thursday March 14, 2019 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born September 2, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daugther of the late Joseph Smith and Pauline (Thomas) Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, William Smith and Andrew Smith.

 

     Josephine is survived by her husband, Fircheld Samuel Hopson; one son, Bryan (Dana) Taylor of Hager Hill; four daughters: Jo Yvonne Burke of Winchester, Kentucky, Tammy (Wesley) Adams of Hager Hill, Patsy (David) Jackson of Salyersville, Kentucky, Melanie (Steve) Slone of Boonscamp, Kentucky; one ½ sister, Paula Sholler of Wilmington, Ohio; two ½ brothers, Larry Miller and Kelly Smith of Ohio; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survive.

 

     Funeral services will be 12:00pm Monday March 18, 2019 in the chapel fo the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens, Louisa.  Steve Slone will officiate.  Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Saturday, 3:00pm to 9:00pm Sunday and untilt the time of service on Monday.      Billy Joe Jackson, age 46 of Riceville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday March 13, 2019 at his residence. Born April 11, 1972 in Johnson County, he was the son of Everett Lewis Spears of Sitka, Kentucky and Hilda Jackson of Cow Pen, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, Billy is survived by his wife, Tina Renee (Dooley) Jackson; one sister, Addie Marie Fairchild of Clay City, Kentucky; sister in law, Terressa (and Sol) Jackson of Riceville, Kentucky.

 

     Funeral services will be 11:00am Sunday March 17, 2019 at the Riceville-New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Jackson Family Cemetery at Riceville. Joe Scott will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Friday, 9:00am to 9:00pm Saturday and after 10:00am Sunday, prior to the service, at the Church.      William Jude, age 70 of Paintsville, Kentucky, formerly of Martin County, passed away Tuesday March 12, 2019 at his residence. Born July 28, 1948 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Jack and Pearl Blackburn Jude. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers: Nathan, Lewis, Jobe, David, Henderson and John Jude; and one sister, Nelva Booth.

 

     William is survived by three brothers: Hershel and Rush Jude both of Lowmansville, Kentucky and T.D. Jude of Richmond, Virginia; three sisters: Thelma Parson of Pilgrim, Kentucky, Elva Jackson of Butler, Missouri and Judy Jude of Oklahoma City, Oklahome; and severla nieces and nephews also survive.

 

     Funeral services will be 2:00pm Thursday March 14, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Jude – Fletcher Cemetery at Pilgrim. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home (1701 Euclid Avenue – Paintsville, Kentucky) from 10:00am to 2:00pm Thursday prior to the service.       Earl D. Collins, age 76 of Sitka, Kentucky passed away Monday March 11, 2019 at his residnece. Born April 6, 1942 in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Freddie and Mary (Coburn) Collins. In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Ratliff Collins; and one brother, Bradis Collins.

     He is survived by three sons: John Earl (Benita) Collins of Sitka, Tommy (Pam) Collins of Wittensville, Kentucky and Freddie (Leslie) Collins of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; grandchildren: Jonathan, Kimberlee, Beth Ann, Alison, Thomas, Justin and Strassa; great grandchildren: Anna Grace, Christopher, Harper, Erin, Joshua Ray, Peyton Jace, Brenley and Ayden; brothers: Timmy, Billy Ray, Estill, Arthur and Ishmeal Collins.

“Pap” will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

     Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday March 14, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Collins Family Cemetery at Sitka. Tim Watkins will officaite.           Madilyn Dawn Boswell, 2 ½ month old daughter of Ray and Donna Vanhoose Boswell of Lowmansville, Kentucky passed away Friday March 8, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio. Madilyn was born December 28, 2018 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
    
In addition to her parents, Madilyn is survived by one sister, Skylar Rae Boswell; paternal grandparents, Lisa and Keith Mollett of Staffordsville, Kentucky; maternal grandparents, Carolyn Sue and Donald Gene Vanhoose of Lowmansville, Kentucky; and two uncles, Mark and Jason Vanhoose also survive.

 

     Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday March 15, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home (1701 Euclid Avenue – Paintsville, Kentucky) from 11:00am to 2:00pm Friday prior to the service.      Randy Lee Richmond, Sr., age 64 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Saturday March 9, 2019 at his residence. Born October 2, 1954 in Shelby, Ohio he was the son of Shirley (Krouse) Richmond of Ohio and the late Hobert Richmond. He is preceded in death by his father, and two grandchildren, James William Douglas Daniel and Julia Castle.

 

    In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Janet (Daniel) Richmond of Clarksville, TN; ex wife, Linda (Francis) Castle; five sons: Randy Lee Richmond, Jr. of Thelma, Benjamin Andrew Richmond of Sitka, John Paul Richmond and Jerry Michael Richmond both of Paintsville and Gary Eugene Richmond of Sitka; two daughters, Melinda Richmond of Flat Gap and Melissa Francis of Ohio; nineteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren also survive.

 

    Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday March 12, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.       Ellis H. Robinson, age 89 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Wednesday March 6, 2019 at the Lee County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Beattyville, Kentucky.

     He was born April 2, 1929 in Boyd County Kentucky. Ellis is preceded in death by his mother and father, and several brothers and sisters.

     He is survived by his wife, Betty Kimbler Robinson; one son, James Michael Robinson of Boone, North Carolina; two step sons, four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren also survive.

     Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 11:00am to 1:00pm Saturday, March 9, 2019. There will be a private funeral service following the visitation with burial in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Toby Wheeler will officiate.      Connie Marie Crowder, age 46 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Sunday March 3, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

     Born February 21, 1973 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of Bill and Patty (Martin) Lafferty of Van Lear, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, Connie is survived by one son, Brady Michael Meade of Paintsville; four brothers: Billy Lafferty Jr. of Staffordsville, Bryant Lafferty of Salyersville, Bradley Lafferty of Van Lear and James Caudill also of Van Lear; two sisters, Mollie O'Bryan of Sitka and Jennifer Lafferty of Campbellsville, Kentucky. Several aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.

     She was the grand daughter of the late Molly and Lewis Martin and Rosie and Otis Lafferty.

     Funeral services will be 3:00pm Wednesday March 6, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Lafferty Family Cemetery at Sycamore. Roger Hill will officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home from 4:00pm to 9:00pm Tuesday and until the time of service Wednesday.       Maxine (Arnett) Pratt, age 87 of Staffordsville, Kentucky passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at her residence. Born June 30, 1931 in Magoffin County, she was the daughter of the late Ruben Arnett and Mattie (Lovely) Arnett. In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Pratt; two brothers, Dewey and Roy Arnett; two sisters, Alka Montgomery and Faye Brown; and one great grandchild, Amy Castle.
    

    She is survived by two daughters, Donna Sue (Fred) Ratliff of West Van Lear, Kentucky and Joan Carol Pratt (Rocky Blevins) of Staffordsville; two grandchildren, Patty (Henderson) Jude of Debord, Kentucky and Kelli Ratliff of West Van Lear and one great grandchild, Chris Castle also survives.

 

     Funeral services will be 1:00pm Tuesday March 5, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville.      Geneva Marcum, age 91 of Red Bush, Kentucky passed away Saturday March 2, 2019 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

 

     Born March 8, 1927 in Williamson, West Virginia she was the daugther of the late William H. Duty and Mary Alice (Curry) Duty. In addition to her parents, Geneva is preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Sue McKenzie; one great grandchild, Brandon McKenzie; and one brother, James Duty.

 

     She is survived by one son, Tim Stacy of Red Bush; two brothers, William and Wendell Duty both of Mingo County West Virginia; son in law, Melvin McKenzie of Red Bush; four grandchildren: David (Teresa) McKenzie of Red Bush, Stacie (Carlous) Curnutte of Red Bush, Kelly and Leslie Stacy both of Columbus, Ohio; four great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survives.

 

     Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday March 6, 2019 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Bob Combs will officiate. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
