Willard “Red” Van Hoose, age 89 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at his home.
Born August 28, 1930 in Floyd County, he was the son of the late Joe Van Hoose and Flossie (Wilcox) Van Hoose. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Van Hoose Jr, Leroy Van Hoose and Phillip Van Hoose; and five sisters, Roberta Stanley, Ruby Daughtry, Lucille Gullett, Marie Case and Judy Spears.
Red is survvied by is wife, Carol (Blair) Van Hoose; and one daughter, Sherri Van Hoose of Paintsville, Kentucky.
He was retired from the Paintsville City Utilities after 30 years of service and a member of the Thealka Freewill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, July 4, 2020 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Thursday, 9:00am to 9:00pm Friday and until the time of service on Saturday. Roger Hill, Gary Blair and Joe Keaton will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the Phelps & Son Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses by calling (606) 789-8989. Lorraine “Renie” Mollette, age 80 of Prestonsburg, Kentucky formerly of Van Lear, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020 at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg.
Born February 19, 1940 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Ali Wells and Sadie (Collins) Wells. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Everett Burchett; husband, Bob Mollette; and long time companion, Denver Harless; two brothers, Sammy “SJ” Wells and Frank Wells; six sisters, Emma Caudill, Eilene Martin, Mary Rider, Donna Rambo, Doris Fannin and Murl Collins.
Renie is survived by two sons, Bruce Blair of Van Lear, Kentucky and Michael Mollette of Prestonsburg, Kentucky; two daughters, Tamera Hunter and her husband, Ernie of Van Lear Marla Potter and her husband, Barry of Madisonville, Kentucky; one brother, Ali Wells, Jr. of Paintsville, Kentucky; one sister, Cindy Morris of Ashland, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Eric Hunter, Misty Caudill, Chanel Andrews, Erica Blair, Makayla Mollette and Caden Mollette; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Wells Cemetery at Daniels Creek. Friends may visit the Phelps & Son Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 9:00pm Wednesday, and until the time of service on Thursday. Malcom Slone will officiate. Theresa Noel Bowen, age 63 of Auxier, Kentucky passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her residence. Born December 24, 1955 in Union County Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Otis Kinikin and Mary (Sherwood) Kinikin. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Wade Bowen; one step son, Ben (and Sarah) Lowery of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one step daughter, Kim (and Erek) Clark of Columbus, Ohio; and eight step grandchildren also survive.
A Memorial Service will be held 1:00pm Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Auxier United Methodist Church. Pastor Music will officiate. Bryan Lee Caudill, age 36 of Redbush, Kentucky passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020. Born July 31, 1983 in Johnson County, Kentucky to Ted Caudill and Teresa Cantrell Caudill of Denver, Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Chester Lee Caudill and his mother-in-law, Velda Dale.
Bryan is survived his parents, Ted and Teresa Cantrell Caudill of Denver, Kentucky; wife, Paula Renee Francis Caudill of Redbush, Kentucky; two sons: Malachai Caudill and Austin Carty; two daughters: Trinity Caudill and Brooklyn Clark; one brother, Matthew Caudill of Denver, Kentucky; one nephew, Brayden Caudill; paternal grandmother, Frances Caudill Tanner of Vanlue, Ohio; father-in-law, Paul Francis of East Point, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home. Emma Lorraine Lowe, age 57 of Debord, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born April 13, 1963 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Russell Goble and Margie Harless Goble. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Greg Jones.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Lowe and his girlfriend, Mary Steele of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother, Russell Goble Jr. and wife, Tomika of Debord, Kentucky; two sisters: Donna Jones of Van Lear, Kentucky, Sheila Hammond of Debord, Kentucky; one nephew, Weston Goble; four nieces: Heather Hammond, Haley Hammond, Lauren Goble, and Paige Goble.
Lorraine was a faithful member of the Beechfork Church of Christ. She also served the public in the Martin County PVA office for over 30 years.
A private service will be held for the immediate family. Burial will be in the Goble Family Cemetery at Debord, Kentucky. B. Joe Hill will officiate. Sidney Gilman, age 83 of Lenore, West Virginia passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at his residence. Born February 27, 1937 in Myrtle, West Virginia he was the son of the late Claude Gilman and Geneva Runyon Gilman. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Dianna Evans Gilman; three brothers: Elmer Gilman, Russell Gilman, William Gilman; and one sister, Janie Gilman.
He is survived by two sons: Sidney J. Gilman and wife, Sharon of Lenore, West Virginia, and Randy A. Gilman of Lenore, West Virginia; three brothers: Charles Gilman of Pike County, Kentucky, Ance Gilman of Delbarton, West Virginia, Larry Gilman of Delbarton, West Virginia; four sisters: Mary Hall of South Williamson, Kentucky, Exie Workman of Omar, West Virginia, Nancy Adkins of Newtown, West Virginia, Helen Spurlock of Delbarton, West Virginia; five grandchildren: Kathrine Gilman, Victoria Johnson, Jacob Gilman, Destiney Gilman, and Cody Gilman.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church at Lenore, West Virginia. Burial will follow in the Ooten Cemetery at Myrtle, West Virginia. Raymond Wade Allen, age 72 of Thelma, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born June 4, 1948 in Paintsville, Kentucky he was the son of the late Merle and Mattie Allen. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Pruitt Allen; and one grandson, Orion Michael May.
He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Pruitt May of Thelma, Kentucky; one son, Ronnie Lemaster of Thelma, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Allen; three grandchildren: Joseph Anthony May, Gabriel DeWayne May, and Joshua Guerra.
Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Monday, June 22, 2020 in the chapel of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Kentucky. Billy Ray Craft, age 49 of Prestonsburg, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 in Prestonsburg. Born August 22, 1970 in Floyd County, he was the son of Mary (Goble) Craft of Prestonsburg and the late Billy Lee Craft. In addition to his father, Billy is preceded in death by one son, Dakota Hampton. He is survived by his mother; three sons, Cameron Erin Beth) Craft of Madison, West Virginia, Baron Craft and Ashton Craft both of Prestonsburg; five daughters, Marilyn (Steven) Ratliff of Prestonsburg, Taye Craft of Paintsville, Brooklyn Craft, Danielle Craft and Cheyenne Craft all of Prestonsburg; one brother, Jesse P. Craft of Prestonsburg; two sisters, Mary Ellen Prater and Arlinda (Greg) Jarvis both of Prestonsburg; five grandchildren, Karson Walker, Aneeka Ratliff, Zade Ratliff, Corbin Craft and Emberlynn Case; and five nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Daniels Creek Fellowship Church of God, Allen, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the Goble – Crider Cemetery at Auxier, Kentucky. Donna Morgan, age 64 of Elizabethtown, Kentucky formerly of Oil Springs, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
Born August 21, 1955 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Fairchild and Erie (Blanton) Fairchild. In addition to her parents, Donna is preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Russell Conley and infant son, Timothy Wayne Conley; six brothers, Gail, Harold, Elwood, Eual, Denzil “Shorty” and Delmar Fairchild; and three sisters, Virginia Craft, Caroll Estell Shew and Jewell Salyers.
She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Jarrell, and her husband Ron Jarrell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Madison Conley of Elizabethtown and Triston Kimbler of Flat Gap, Kentucky; one great grandchild, Noah Stephen Conley of Elizabethtown; two brothers, James Billy Fairchild and Gary (Nannie) Fairchild both of Oil Springs, Kentucky; two sisters, her twin Diane (Norman) Blanton of Oil Springs and Loretta (Allen) Holden of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; her best friend, Mrs. Haire of Elizabethtown; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Donna loved being outside, gardening and fishing. Most of all, she loved being with her family, kids, and grandchildren very much.
Per her request, there will be no public visitation or funeral services at this time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.
