Jacob Tyson Gregory Blair, age 11 of Hager Hill, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born October 29, 2009 in Lexington, Kentucky to Gregg Blair and Melinda Crace Blair. He is preceded in death by his Papaw Delmer Crace and Mamaw Alka Crace; along with his twin brother, Justin Caleb Gregory Blair.
In addition to his parents, Jacob is survived by his Gran, Sharon Blair of Hager Hill, Kentucky; Mamaw and Poppy, Mable and Glenn Blair of Leander, Kentucky; one brother, Gabriel Trinity Blair of Hager Hill, Kentucky; Wade Ratliff (whom he thought of as a brother) and his fiance, Kara Smothers(whom Jacob called his girlfriend). A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and church family also survive.
Jacob loved all things related to trains, especially Thomas the Train.
Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Collista Freewill Baptist Church, 1293 KY RT 825, Hager Hill, KY 41222 with burial to follow in the Family Cemetery on Middle Fork. Toby Johnson and Marvin Adkins will officiate. Peggy Hampton, age 79 of Thelma, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Riverview Health Care Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born November 5, 1941 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Richard Hampton and Pauline (Holbrook) Castle. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.
Peggy is survived by three sons: Jimmy Kestner (Patti) of of Sitka, Kentucky, Paul Ray Kestner of Paintsville, Kentucky, Allen Kestner (Jennifer) of Carrollton, Kentucky; three daughters: Elizabeth Kestner of Allen, Kentucky, Lesia Vanhoose of Thelma, Kentucky, Melina Alderson of Morehead, Kentucky; one brother, Earl “Wendy”; three sisters: Donetta, Debbie, and Dottie Jean; grandchildren: Rebecca Kestner, Renea Pennington, Jammie Kestner, Ryan Kestner, Justin Blanton, Jacob Blanton, Kristi Kestner, Andrew Kestner, Alex Kestner, Zachary Kestner, special granddaughter, Jessica Mullins, Brandon Clark; along with step grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

James Larry Fields, age 76 of Sitka, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia. Born February 10, 1945 in Viper, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Eli Fields and Bessie (Farler) Fields. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one great grandchild, Addison Bowen; one brother, Harold Fields; four sisters: Edith Davis, Etta Riley, Julia Davis, and Nancy Banks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beulah (Banks) Fields; two sons: James Derek Fields and wife, Misty of Sitka, Kentucky, Kennith Douglas Fields and wife, Angie of Richmond, Kentucky; one daughter, Tabitha Denise Fields Hall and husband, Woodrow of Paintsville, Kentucky; one brother, Tom Fields of Viper, Kentucky; two sisters: Barbara Hall of Viper, Kentucky and Peggy Farler and husband, Bud of Viper, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: James Douglas Fields(Erika Long), Jamilynn Bowen, Hunter Hall, Ivy June Fields, Isaac James Fields, Samantha Dopp, and Sydney Sprague; and three great grandchildren: Waylon Bowen, Kinsley Bowen, and Scarlett Hall.
Mr. Fields was a veteran of the United States Army.

James S. Wells, age 75 of Wittensville, Kentucky passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at his residence. Born September 16, 1945 in Johnson County, Kentucky, to the late Arlie Wells, Jr. and Julie Mae (Stambaugh) Wells. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, David Wells.
James is survived by three sons: James S. Wells, Jr. of Frankfort, Kentucky, Mike Wells of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Gary Murphy of South Carolina; one daughter, Julie Wells of Wittensville, Kentucky; and eight grandchildren.

Jennings Maynard, age 93 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville. Born September 19, 1927 in Delbarton, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Harrison H. Maynard and Emma (Curry) Maynard. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by twelve siblings.
Jennings is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Sparks Maynard; one son, David Maynard of Key West, Florida; two daughters: Lorraine Maynard Gibbs and husband, Bill of Lexington, Kentucky, and Jennifer Maynard of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Sarah Gibbs (Jimmy Lavin), Greg Gibbs (Dalia), Stephanie Maynard, Martha Maynard Loveland (Jason), Ernie Maynard (Bethany Hayes), Emily Maynard Johnson (Tyler); ten great grandchildren; and one brother.
Jennings was retired from the Island Creek Coal Company where he worked as Manager of Maintenance and Construction. He was a member of the O'Brien Masonic Lodge #101 of Williamson, West Virginia where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also obtained the prestigious Eagle Scout rank. Jennings was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.

Irene (Lemaster) Auxier, age 86 of Red Bush, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 14, 2021 at her home. Irene was born November 6, 1934 to Plennie and Annie Tackett Lemaster. She was retired from the Johnson County Board of Education and attened Martha First Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Chester (Chet) Auxier; daughter in law, Lexie Justice Auxier; three sisters, Jennett Lemaster, Roberta McCarty and Darlene McKenzie; and three brothers, Wallace Franklin Lemaster, James Everett Lemaster and Johnnie Lemaster.
Irene is survived by six sons: Jack Auxier of Rex, Georgia, Mike (Jerri) Auxier of Flat Gap, Kentucky, Sam (Connie) Auxier , Gary (Dyan) Auxier, Roger (Dianna) Auxier and Bill Auxier all of Red Bush, Kentucky; one daughter, Luann (Andy) Pemberton of River, Kentucky; one brother, Garland (Valetta) Lemaster of Hager Hill, Kentucky; and three sisters: Grace Cochran of Fairborn, Ohio, Joann (Bert) Blanton of Paintsville, Kentucky and Lillian Lemaster of Columbus, Ohio; one sister in law, Judy Lemaster of Ashland, Kentucky; one brother in law, Jerry McKenzie of Staffordsville, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Patricia Ann (Stafford) Griffith, age 80, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021 in Paducah, Kentucky.
Born April 5, 1941 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Proctor J. Stafford and Osa Lee (Stewart) Stafford. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Sambo Griffith; two brothers, Bob Stafford and P.J. Stafford; and four sisters, Jean Cottle, Neva Lee Stafford, Flo Williams and Jo Maxon.
Patricia is survived by one son, William (Patricia) Davis of Salyersville, Kentucky; five daughters, Judy (Scott) Wilson of Cunningham, Kentucky, Kimberley Ann (Todd) Cromwell of Paducah, Kentucky, Sherry (Kenny) Peck of Paducah, Sammie (Carl) Mcelvain of Paducah and Jennifer (Donnie) Reed of Paintsville, Kentucky; one brother, Glenn Stafford of Michigan; twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Retired 24th Circuit Judge, Stephen Nick Frazier, age 77 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his residence.
Born November 27, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Foster and Ruby (Patrick) Frazier. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Frazier; and one sister, Vickie VanHoose.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Carolyn (Murphy) Frazier; three sons: Alan Bradley Frazier, and his wife Rebecca of Midway, Kentucky, Daniel Layne Frazier, and his wife Jennifer of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Bryan Foster Frazier, and his wife Kristy of Staffordsville, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Ashley, Sydney, Morgan, Stephen, Channing and Anna Carol; two very special friends, Patty Lail and Linda Grim; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Nick served as the 24th Judicial Circuit Family Court Judge from January 2003 through his retirement January 31st, 2005 and served as Chief Regional Circuit Judge of the Mountain Region (7th Judicial Region) from June 1, 1986 until his retirement. Previously, Nick had served as Circuit Judge for the 24th Judicial Circuit beginning January 2, 1984 and was then reelected in 1991 and 1999. Prior to his election as circuit judge, Nick held other significant positions which included:
-Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for Louisville-Jefferson County in 1973.
-Assistant Professor of History, Political Science and Business Law at Pikeville College, 1969-1970.
-Part-time Instructor of Political Science, Real Estate Law, and Business Law at Prestonsburg Community College from 1991-1998.
-Former City Attorney for the City of Paintsville, Kentucky (two terms for a total of eight years).
-Former District Judge of the 24th Judicial District of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, 1978.
-Former Teacher for public education in Kentucky during the years 1965 and 1966. Included among the awards Nick received during his career were:1993 Recipient of the Chief Justice's Special Service Award presented by the Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Kentucky Bar Association.
2003 Recipient of the Kentucky White Ribbon Award presented by the FIVCO Area Development District in association with the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association and the Governor’s Office on Domestic Violence.
2004 - Judicial Advocate Award presented by Kentucky Attorney General Greg Stumbo for outstanding service, commitment and dedication in protecting battered women in rural Northeastern Kentucky.
Nick earned his B.S. Degree from Pikeville College, Pikeville, Kentucky, 1965, and Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1969. Admitted to practice Kentucky 1969.

Jason Andrew Gwinn, age 59 of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Born January 30, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio he was the son of the late Robert Gwinn and Corrie Rowland Gwinn. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters: Sharon Fields and Linda Simpkins.
He is survived by one son, Zachary Gwinn of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter, Cigie Dickerson of Paintsville, Kentucky; one brother, Joe Gwinn of Ocala, Florida; one sister, Carrie Ball of Ocala, Florida. One grandchild also survives.

Mrs. Christina “Teena” Davis Montgomery of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away peacefully on June 7, 2021 at the age of 90 after a long battle with COPD complications.
Born March 14, 1931, the youngest daughter of George Washington Davis, Sr. and Verlie Fitzpatrick of Meally, Kentucky. Teena was a graduate of Paintsville High School and Mayo State Vocational Technical School. As Office Manager and Executive Secretary to Mr. George Ramey at Mayo, Teena helped thousands of students enroll and get financial aid. A Kentucky Colonel and Democratic Chairperson, Teena strongly advocated for higher education in Eastern Kentucky frequently making trips to Frankfort meeting with leadership. Teena went on to help her husband start Worldwide Mining Equipment in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. After his untimely death in 1982, she returned to Paintsville to care for her elderly father and then later her older sister. She returned to work for K-Mart where she received a small pension for 20 years of service. A strong Christian believer, Teena was baptized with other family members at the First Baptist Church of Paintsville on October 18, 1998.
Teena is preceded by her parents and husband Colonel Thomas Marshall Montgomery, one sister Beatrice Davis Borders, and two brothers Harold L. Davis Sr., and Howard H. Davis of Ashland.
She is survived by one sister Betty Davis Rice of Paintsville; one brother George W Davis Jr of Ashland; along with several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers: Rev. Bruce Aaron Davis, Matthew Rice Ensor, George Keith Rice, Ethan and Kyle Underwood, and Wayne Short. Honorary Pallbearers: George W Davis III, Bruce Arnold Davis, and the Rev. Wayne Short.
Graveside services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville, Kentucky. Thurman Edward Brown, age 67 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born March 16, 1954 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Albert Brown and Ruby Pennington Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Miles; one niece and two nephews.
He is survived by two daughters: Norma Jean Lemaster and Billie Jo Geren, both of Warsaw, Indiana; two stepdaughters: Donna Sue Palone and Sydney Palone, both of California; six brothers: Levi Curtis, Floyd Curtis, James Brown, all of Kentucky, Leonard Brown and Elbert Brown of Florida, and Wayne Brown of Ohio; six sisters: Fredia Webb, Priscillia Manns, Virginia Greathouse, Pauline Williamson and Peggy Stewart, all of Kentucky, and Emmogean Smith of Florida; a dear friend, Teresa Reed. A host of nieces, nephews and multitude of friends also survive.
A private memorial service will be held for the family and friends of Mr. Brown. Arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Julius Benard Bowling, age 77 of Hager Hill, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2021 at King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
Born October 11, 1943 in Chatteroy, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Paris Bowling and Mildred (Smith) Bowling. In addition to his parents, Julius is preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Logan Bowling, Demart Bowling and Edgar Bowling. He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Risner) Bowling; one son, Chris Bowling; three daughters, Nelissa Winters, Virginia Williams and Nancy Morgan; three step children, Stonewall Jackson, Rebecca Helton and Melanie Bailey; eighteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and a very special pet, Lucky.
