Ruth Ann Howard, age 67 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born January 18, 1955 in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Shurlin Wesley McCoy and Lucy Vertie (Blackburn) McCoy. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Lynn Howard; seven brothers: Money McCoy, Mack McCoy, Almond McCoy, Avery McCoy, Clarence McCoy, Virgil T. McCoy, Raymond McCoy; one sister, Lora Goble; and four infant siblings.
She is survived by one son, William Michael Howard of Van Lear, Kentucky; two daughters: Melissa Kay Hall and her husband, Brian of Van Lear, Kentucky, Marsha Renee Coleman of Van Lear, Kentucky; one brother, Tom McCoy of Pikeville, Kentucky; one sister, Mildred Blackburn and her husband, Russell of Debord, Kentucky; four grandchildren: Matthew Dylan Hall (Whitney), Kaytlyn Michelle Hall, Kiley Young, Gracelyn Hampton; three great grandchildren: Luke Hall, Lyla Hall, Curtis Myles Ramirez. A host of loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive.

Jenny (Ramey) Fraley, age 57 of Clay City, Kentucky passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her residence. Born October 15, 1964 in Paintsville, Kentucky to the late Cuder Ramey and Belle (Dale) Ramey. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters: Linda Johnson and Patty McKenzie.
She is survived by her husband, Tony “Grossy” May of Clay City, Kentucky; two sons: Sam Ramey and his wife, Kelsey of Oil Springs, Kentucky and Robert Daugherty of Knoxville, Tennessee; one daughter, Prissa Mullins of Thelma, Kentucky; one brother, Henry Ramey and his wife, Kathy of Van Lear, Kentucky; five sisters: Della Auxier of Hager Hill, Kentucky, Pauline Blair of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, Penny O'Brien and husband, Rick of Clay City, Kentucky, Joyce Webb of Thelma, Kentucky, and Donna Lemaster and her husband, David of Hager Hill, Kentucky; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A host of family members, friends, and fur babies also survive.

William David Hull, age 54 of Prestonsburg, Kentucky passed from this earth and into the arms of a waiting Lord on January 27th at 6:30 pm in his home at Prestonsburg, KY. Having retired to his recliner for an afternoon nap before supper, he drifted off to sleep and opened his eyes in Heaven. David was born on December 7th, 1967 in Floyd County, Kentucky. He is the son of Mike Fishbaugh of East Point, Ky and the late Shirlie Mae Mitchell Fishbaugh who precedes him in death. He was a former paint specialist for Lowes and had retired due to health and vision issues complicated by MS.
David is survived by his father Mike, one brother, Michael Ray (Donna) Fishbaugh of Wheelwright and one sister; Lara (Paul) Pack of Boons Camp, KY. He is also survived by his loving long time companion and betrothed Ms. Ruth Spears of Prestonsburg as well as Ruth’s two grandbabies Isabella and Jasmine who called him Papaw. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who all loved Uncle Bubby so very much.
David was a kind and giving soul with an abundance of compassion for all who struggled in life as he himself knew many struggles over the years. He, like our dear Mommy, loved the UK Cats and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer his Wildcats toward victory. His smile and love of family will be missed by those of us who remain. We, the family, take great comfort in knowing David’s love of the Lord and desire to make Heaven his eternal home. We rejoice knowing he is at peace with the Lord and our precious Mommy.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 30th at Phelps & Son Funeral Home in Paintsville, Kentucky from 5-7pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in the family cemetery at the homeplace of Little Lick Fork, East Point.

Garna Jo Meade, age 79 of Whitehouse, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born May 13, 1942 in Martin County, Kentucky to the late John and Mary Williamson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, George Meade; one son, John Willie Meade; a special niece, Pam Maggard; two brothers; and four sisters.
She is survived by one son, George Meade Jr. of Whitehouse, Kentucky; one brother, Jimmy Williamson of Whitehouse, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Christopher Meade (Kelly), Michael Meade, Mitchell Meade, Joie Meade (Catie), Zach Meade (Haley), Eli Meade (Misty); four great grandchildren: Johnathan Blake Meade, John Truett Meade, Emilia Josephine Meade, and Johnnie Walker Meade.

Joyce Short, age 93 of Russell, Kentucky passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at her residence. Born April 21, 1928 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Wiley Collins and Maudie (McFaddin) Collins. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Welman Short; sisters: Ruth Harper and Sue Byrd; brothers: Clyde “Archie” Collins and Curtis Collins.
To cherish her memory is her sister, Edna Dills of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Randall Metz and Paula Irving for all their help.
Joyce was a member of the Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Kentucky with burial to immediately follow. There will be no visitation per the request of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Phelps & Son Funeral Home.

Homer Dale Castle, age 40 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at his residence. Born May 2, 1981 in Louisa, Kentucky he was the son of Joyce (Runyon) Castle of Paintsville, Kentucky and the late Roger Castle.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his two children, Cameron Mollett of Beauty, Kentucky and Elmira Castle of Sitka, Kentucky; sister, Beatrice Jude and her husband, Brian of Lovely, Kentucky; brother, Jimmy Castle and his wife, Sandra of Sitka, Kentucky; three nephews: Shane Jude, Devin Wells, and Ethan Jude; two nieces: Haylee Castle and Jimma Castle; girlfriend, Chennye McDaniel; four children that he loved as his own: Chloe McDaniel, Braxton McDaniel, Christopher McDaniel, and KeeGan Bowen. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends also survive.

Harold Gene VanHoose, age 72 of Nippa, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born July 11, 1949 in Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Homer VanHoose and Neva Jewell (Rowe) VanHoose. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Charles Richard Wallace VanHoose.
He is survived by one son, Michael VanHoose of Ashland, Kentucky; and three sisters: Phyllis Davis and her husband, Doug of Paintsville, Kentucky, Darlene Blanton of Staffordsville, Kentucky, and Judy Blair and her husband, Jerry of Louisa, Virginia. A host of other family members and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am Monday, January 24, 2022 at the Lakeview Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville, Kentucky with burial to immediately follow. Linzie Meade will officiate. Jeraldine (Ferguson) Skaggs, age 79 of Martha, Kentucky passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at her residence. Born February 12, 1942 in Relief, Kentucky to the late Euclid and Sophia Ferguson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Dickie Skaggs; two sons: Paul Skaggs and his wife, Angela of Martha, Kentucky, Robert Skaggs and his wife, Tammy of Blaine, Kentucky; one daughter, Pat Griffith and her husband, Ronnie of Blaine, Kentucky; one brother, Danny Ferguson and his wife, Jewell of Relief, Kentucky; one sister, Pam Conley and her husband, Loran of West Liberty, Kentucky; seven grandchildren: Brandon (Cheranda) Skaggs, Brittany (Brett) Boyd, Breanna (Tylor) Curtis, Brooke (Jarek) Voyles, Wyatt Griffith, Whitney Griffith, Jacob Skaggs; two great grandchildren: Avery Curtis, Arian Skaggs, and two great grandchildren on the way.
Jeraldine was a faithful member of the Paintsville Calvary Church of God.

Edna Mae Hannah, age 88 of Hager Hill, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
Born April 3, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan she was the daughter of the late Harold Bigger and Mattie Wilmoth Bigger. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Shell Hannah {October 2018}; and one sister, Ramona Sanders.
Mrs. Hannah is survived by three sons, Michael Dwight Hannah, Ronald Dean Hannah and wife, Robin and Donald Eugene Hannah; five daughters, Jacqueline Robinson and husband, Ronnie, Karen Ann Crider and husband, Dwight, Tina Marie Powers and husband, Keith, Rhonda Gail Hannah, Kathy Lynn Harless and husband, Mike; and one brother, Harold Bigger, Jr. Ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Ronald Keith “Bo” Slone passed on Monday, January 17, 2022. He was born August 8, 1954 to Donald and Georgia Slone. He loved fishing, watching the UK Wildcats and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Georgia and his sister Patricia Carnita Estep.
He is survived by his sisters Pamela Slone; Sandra (Mark) Setser; Jeanetta (JC) Blanton; and Brother-In-Law Danny Estep. Nieces, Stephanie Johnson, Rebecca Maynard, Cassie Davis, Jessica Gross, Samantha Garrett, Madison Blanton, Olivia Maynard, MaKayla Setser and Nephews Chapman Collier and Geordon Blanton and four great nieces and eight great nephews which he loved and adored.

Sharon Kaye Conley “Sherry” Blair, age 77 of Hager Hill, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born January 16, 1944 ion Johnson County, Kentucky to the late Alvis Conley and Hazel Kennard Conley. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two grandsons, Jacob Blair and his twin, Justin; one sister, Phyllis Jean Williams.
She is survived by her son, Gregg Blair and his wife, Melinda of Hager Hill, Kentucky; one grandson, Gabriel Trinity Blair of Hager Hill, Kentucky; former husband, Glenn Blair and his wife, Mable of Leander, Kentucky. A host of family, friends, and church family also survive.
Sherry was a retired educator with the Johnson County School System, a member of the Kentucky Education Association, as well as the National Education Association. She was a proud and faithful member of the Collista Freewill Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to the Lord in 1981.

Buster Burchett Jr., age 82 of Meally, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Paintsville ARH Regional Medical Center. Born September 3, 1939 in Allen, Kentucky he was the son of the late, Hazel Marie Allen Burchett. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sabrina Marie Perdue and one son-in-law, Wallace Ray Perdue.
Buster is survived by his loving wife, Beatrice Hayden Burchett; one son, Scott Burchett (Debbie) of Washington Township, Ohio; four daughters: Shelda Kay Whited (Jerry) of Lakeland, Florida, Melinda Sue Fahrenholz (David) of Fishers, Indiana, Sherry Ann Wilson (Randy) of Enon, Ohio, Robin Bea Salmons of Fairborn, Ohio; ten grandchildren: Josh, Carissa (Ernie), Alex, Colton, Jerry Ryan (Katie), Erich (Amy), Chris, Sam, Lily (Taylor), Lila; six great grandchildren: Wayde, Josie, Logan, Emma, Wyatt, Christopher Ethan. Numerous aunts, uncles, family members and friends also survive.

Danny Michael “Mikey” Fairchild, age 53 of Thelma, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the Paintsville ARH Regional Medical Center. Born April 7, 1968 in Union County, Ohio he was the son of Mary Cornett Fairchild of Hager Hill, Kentucky and the late Danny Lee Fairchild.
In addition to his mother, Mikey is survived by two sons: Corey Michael Fairchild (Amber) of Hurricane, West Virginia, Landon Cole Fairchild of Louisa, Kentucky; one daughter, Lynsey Nicole Fairchild and fiancé, Devin Patrick of Sitka, Kentucky; one sister, Leigh Susan Nelson and husband, Chris of Bryantsville, Kentucky. A host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends also survive.

Herbert Loyd Whitaker, age 68 of East Point, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at his residence.
Born January 20, 1953 in Paintsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John Whitaker and Mildred Robinson Whitaker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by one son, Herbert Wesley Whitaker; and one sister, Helen Boggs.
He is survived by his wife, Delorse Kaye Dotson Whitaker; one daughter, Becky Young, and her husband Chris of East Point, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Emmaline Raeann Young and Ethan Sawyer Young; and a host of family and friends also survive.
Mr. Whitaker was a retired educator for Johnson Central High School and Big Sandy Community and Technical College.

Born February 4, 1953 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Topsy Ratliff and Ruby Vanhoose Ratliff. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge “Art” Southern; one son, Tony Ray Southern; twin brother, Hollie Ratliff; sisters: Ella Faye Ratliff, Hattie Thatcher, Dixie Blair, Dicie VanHoose; brothers: Clark Ratliff, Andy Jack Ratliff, Lawrence Ratliff, Tom Ratliff, Jay Ratliff, Ova Ratliff, Leander Ratliff, Obie Ratliff, Charles Ratliff, Frank Ratliff and Topsy Ratliff.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lee Southern Goble and her husband Linzie Burgess Goble of Flat Gap, Kentucky; granddaughter, Elena Faith Goble of Flat Gap, Kentucky; grandson, Linzie Ashton Goble and fiancée Morgan Hope Erwin of Morehead, Kentucky; three sisters, Martha Kidd and husband Roscoe Kidd, Mary Pennington and husband Gary Pennington and Ruth Ann Fitch and husband Starlin Fitch.

Jearlean “Jeri” Donley, age 80 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa.
Born November 8, 1941 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Blair and Eulah Hannah Blair. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Donley is preceded in death by her former husband, Roger Donley.
She is survived by two sons, Michael David Donley and his wife Amy of Peoria, Illinois and Gregory Scott Donley and his wife, Tammie of Paintsville, Kentucky; one brother, Roger Blair of Hager Hill, Kentucky, one sister, Thelma Murray of Hager Hill, Kentucky; one grandson, Cory Donley of Charleston, West Virginia; her extended family and friends, as well as the members of Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She was retired from American Standard.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Cody (Carrie) Butcher of Wittensville, Kentucky, Mason Butcher of Sitka, Kentucky and Jeremy Dawson Butcher of Paintsville, Kentucky; one brother, Cecil Butcher of Paintsville, Kentucky; two sisters, Lexie (Don) Staton of Paintsville, Kentucky and Cheyanne Butcher of Wayne, West Virginia; one grandchild, Cody Nelson Butcher and one on the way, Madlyn Butcher; one niece, Willow Jade; and special companion, Nikki Butcher. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Chastity Nicole Butcher.
