Kenny Ray Stacy, age 50 of Inez, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Highland Regional in Prestonsburg. Born August 22, 1962 in Lawrence County, he was the son of Gladys Jude Stacy of Inez and the late Carmel Stacy. In addition to to his father, he is preceded in death by brother in law, Larry Dalton; and mother & father in law, Herman and Betty Horn. He is survived by his mother, Gladys; his wife, Roseanna Horn Stacy; three sons, Kenny Michael Stacy of Inez, Cody Michael Tash of Inez and Tyler Chase Stacy of Inez; three daughters, April Stacy, Courtney Stacy and Anna Stacy all of Inez; five brothers, Haskell (Joyce) Stacy, Andy (Sharon) Stacy, Jasper (Nona) Stacy, Elmer (Donna) Stacy and Harrison (Barbara) Stacy all of Inez; and five sisters, Linda (Butler) Jude of Pilgrim, Judy Blackburn of Paintsville, Diana Kay (Gordon) Fletcher of Tomahawk, Brenda Dalton of Inez and Tammy (Joe) Fannin of Milo. He was a former Road Department employee.

Veronica Hill Hayslett, age 46 of Lexington, formerly of Paintsville, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born November 23, 1966 in Wabash, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ethel Cooper Hill of Hager Hill and the late Astor Lee Hill, Sr. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, James David Hayslett; and one brother, Astor Lee Hill, Jr. She is survived by her mother, Ethel Hill of Hager Hill; one son, David Blake Hayslett of Lexington; two daughters, Chelsey Hayslett (Robert William) Wallace and Julia Marte` Hayslett both of Lexington; one brother, Gary Hill of Hager Hill; one sister, Debbie (Ronnie) Duty of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, James Mason Hayslett and Olyvia Lynn Wallace.
Veronica was a Registered Nurse at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Marlene Lafferty, age 65 of Van Lear, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. Born September 18, 1947 in Floyd County to the late Elijah and Rossaline Hamilton Music. She is survived by her husband, William Chester Lafferty; two sons, Phillip Dwayne Lafferty and William David Lafferty of Van Lear, Kentucky; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Lafferty of Missouri and Natalie Faith Lafferty of Van Lear, Kentucky; three brothers, Thomas Music of David, Kentucky, Larry Music of Paintsville, Kentucky and Richard Music of Stanville, Kentucky; three sisters, Helen Delong of Van Lear, Kentucky, Nolita Ritz of Van Lear, Kentucky, and Gwen McKinney of Harold, Kentucky. Nine grandchildren seven great grandchildren also survive.

John Whitaker, age 92 of East Point passed away Sunday morning at Salyersville Health Care Center. Born May 24, 1920 in Floyd County to the late Grover Cleveland Whitaker and Alta Blair Whitaker. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Robinson Whitaker; one son, Herbert Whitaker of East Point; one daughter, Helen Boggs of East Point; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive.

Okey Lee “Snowball” Mills, age 70 of Inez, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Three Rivers in Louisa. Born June 10, 1942 in Martin County, he was the son of Dorothy Helen Horn Mills of Inez and the late Carl Mills. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Taylor and William Arnold Mills; and one sister, Sadie Jean Horn. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene Fletcher Mills; one son, Okey Lee Mills, Jr of Inez; two daughters, Angela Williams of Inez and Corie Mills of Inez; two brothers, Cecil Ray Mills and Haskel Earl Mills both of Inez; five sisters, Eva Ann Spence, Lillie Belle Maynard, Oma Mae Bircher and Lorane Perkins all of Inez, and Thelma Ruth Waller of Ft. Gay, West Virginia; and seven grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Janette Blanton Gambill; three sons, Jimmy Dean Gambill of Flat Gap, Everett Lee Gambill of Kenova, WV, and Danny Ray Gambill of Flat Gap; one daughter, Tammy Gambill of Flat Gap; three brothers, Bart Gambill of Ohio, Buck Gambill and Diale Gambill both of Morgan County; and five sisters, Annie Robinson and Marvey Wright, Vannie Peters, and Wanda Hamilton all of Morgan County and Deckie Dulin of Mt. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Libby Murphy Music. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Joann Dulong Music. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, James Music Jr. of Hazel Park, Michigan; three brothers, Walter Larry Music of Nippa, Kelly Music and Jack Music each of Michigan; four sisters, Helen Music of Van Lear, Nola Davis of Flatwoods, Billie Holland, and Bobbie Jones each of Michigan. In addition to her parents Edna is preceded in death by her husband, Linzie Staniford and one son, Donald Staniford. She is survived by two sons, James Staniford of Martha, and Rick Staniford of Louisa; seven daughters, Thelma Sturgill of Paintsville, Patty Lyon of Salyersville, Brenda Butcher of Smithville, Glenda Obryan of Lexington, Deloris Stapleton of Paintsville, Debbie Burke of Paintsville, and Teresa Spradlin of Van Lear; and one brother, Earl Johnson of Floyd County. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

Charles Eugene (Chuck) Hann, age 74 of Thelma, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Born September 3, 1938 in Napoleon, Ohio to the late Ford Maxwell Hann and Bernadine Crossman Hann. Chuck was an award winning photographer and writer. He was also a veteran, having served proudly in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents Chuck is preceded in death by his wife Nell Ford-Hann. He is survived by two daughters, Jodi Warning of Camp Point, Illinois, and Lori Rush of Fowler, Illinois; one stepson, Terry Ford of Seoul, South Korea; two stepdaughters, Traci Beverley of Van Lear, Kentucky, and Tobi Tate of Frankfort, Kentucky; three sisters, Linda Hunt, Marlene Swick, and Marilyn Tanner, each of Lakeland, Florida. Ten grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.

Lloyd Mann, age 63 of Lovely, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home. Born July 2, 1949 in Blackey, KY to the late Chris Mann and Menerva Mollett Mann. Lloyd was a retired a coal miner. In addition to his parents Lloyd is preceded in death by three brothers, Eugene Mann, Ed Mann, and Chris Mann Jr.; two sisters, Pat Mann Chaffins and Martha Dillon. Lloyd is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Jessie Arlene Varney Mann; one son, Chris “Pedo” (Sherry)Mann of Lovely; two daughters, Lora Ann (Buddy) Maynard and Holly (Kevin) Droz, both of Lovely; three brothers, Roger Mann, Bill Mann, and Bob Mann; two sisters, Joyce Francis, and Margret Francis. Lloyd is also survived by ten grandchildren that were the loves of his life; Cody, Corbin, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Paige, David (Little Man), Christopher (Bubba), Kendra, Amber, and Taylor.

In addition to his father he is survived by four brothers, Edgar Litton of Taylor Michigan, Michael Litton, Phillip Litton, and Mason Litton all of Tomahawk; three sisters, Sadie Litton of Wayne Michigan, Sandra Kososki of Newport, Michigan and Jenny Delawrence of Tomahawk.

Jack D. Perry, age 83 of Boonscamp, passed away Tuesday , March 26, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington. Born July 5, 1929 in Johnson County to the late Jack Harlem Perry and Emma Hale Perry. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his lifetime partner Betty Smith; one son, Dempsey Ray Perry; stepson, John Smith; one brother, Jack Perry Jr; and one sister, Pansy Crum. He is survived by four daughters, Emma Blevins of Salyersville, Carol Collins of Paintsville, Stephanie Bowens of Boonscamp, and Robin Easterday of Indiana; and one sister Christine Roffhammer of Oklahoma. Thirteen grandchildren and twelve great granchildren also survive.

William C. “Chuck” Spencer age 55, passed away in his home on March 25th, 2013 at 5:05 am. On February 26th, 1958 William was born to James and Polly (Click) Spencer in Paintsville, KY. On May 6th, 1976 he married Tamra Walters in Paintsville, KY, she survives. William moved to Kosciusko County in 1997 from Paintsville Ky. William was an independent over the road semi – truck driver, whom loved to camp, enjoyed fishing, loved to spend many hours hunting turkey and deer. He found pleasure in the outdoors and with his family. William is survived by his wife Tamra Spencer of Warsaw, his sons Chad (spouse Heather) Spencer of Oil Springs KY, Neal Spencer of Warsaw, and Chris (spouse Leah) Spencer of Warsaw; sisters Veletta (spouse Tommy) Morgan of Leander KY, Diana (spouse Paul) Adams of Leander KY, and Felicia (spouse Billy Joe) Bales of Denver, KY; brothers Darrell Spencer of Swamp Branch KY, Terry Neal (spouse Beth) Spencer of Leander KY; his mother Polly Spencer of Leander KY; along with eight grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. William was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Haskell Edward Burgess, age 90 of Dayton, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was the former owner/operator of Burgess Motor Sales in Dayton, Ohio and Inez, Kentucky. Haskell attended Christian Life Center and was a veteran of WWII having proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local #290, the Masonic Lodge and a Kentucky Colonel. He also was a Bluegrass musician and belonged to the OKI Bluegrass Association.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Darleen (Clark) Burgess, daughter and son-in-law: Marluta and Terry Correll and their children, Matthew Clark Correll and Andrew Burgess Correll of Englewood, Ohio. He is also survived by his daughter: Sandra Witte and family, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Arthur and Margie (Stepp) Burgess, daughter: Janice McClain, brother: Harold Burgess and sister: Alma Jo Hammond.

Born September 22, 1920 in Mingo County, WV to the late James Meade and Jeanetta Spaulding Meade. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Messer and three brothers, Thomas, Howard and Benton Meade. Eddie Bolden, age 99 of Pilgrim, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Eastern Kentucky Veteran's Center in Hazard. Born July 8, 1913 in Van Lear, KY, he was the son of the late John Bolden and Bertha Doslin Bolden. He is survived by six sons, Dave Allen Bolden of Inez, Ronnie (Ada) Bolden of Lucasville, Ohio, George Bolden and William Bolden both of Pilgrim, Lige Bolden of Warfield, and Billy Bolden of Ceredo, WV; and several grandchildren.
He was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He is survived by is wife of almost 61 years, Coreena “Rene” Robertson Marcum; two daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda (George) Blevins of Pilgrim, KY, Connie (Bill) Thomas of Lovely, KY, and Johnny Blevins of Beauty, KY; two grand daughters, six grand sons, five great grand daughters, six great grand sons, grand daughters in law, grand sons in law, five sisters, two brothers, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his special little nurse, Gabrielle Jude. Charles Douglas "Doug" Phelps, 70, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Although he attended Inez High School, he was a member of the Warfield High School graduating class of 1960. Doug went on to become a member of the U.S. Army serving as a member of the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper. As a proud self employed barber, he owned his own shop in Grandview, Ohio for the last 39 years. Doug was an avid golfer and contributed to many community civic leagues and organizations throughout his life. He enjoyed traveling and was commonly known as the life of the party.
In addition to his father, he is proceeded in death by brothers Dann (Carole) Phelps, Anthony "Tony" Phelps, and twins James and Paul Phelps.
Doug is survived by his wife Betty Jo (Conley) Phelps of Columbus, Ohio; one son, Tim (Tammy) Phelps of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Taylor and Joey Phelps also of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; mother, Verlie Phelps Gibson of Inez, Kentucky; eight siblings, Billie Jean (Jay) Dingess of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Ron (Karen) Phelps of West Jefferson, Ohio; Pat (Ed) Mills of Inez, Kentucky; Johnna (Gary) Stiles also of Inez; Sheliah (Chuck) Elkins of Logan, WV; Sabrina (Darrell) Messer of Abington, Va; Lonnie (Wendy) Phelps of Blountville, Tennessee; and Keith (Susan) Phelps of Newnan, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Edith {Jude} Justice; four brothers, Billy, Pete Jr, Robert and Ronald Justice; and five sisters, Helen Bragg, Louise Maynard, Betty Mae Marcum, Kathren Garvin and Geraldene Mollett. Johnny is survived by three sons, David, Mark and Jeff Justice all of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Sharon Porter of Columbus; one brother, Donald Justice of Ft. Gay, WV; three sisters, Joyce Ann Gibson, Ruby Jean Spaulding of Kermit and Bertha Fluty of West Virginia; a very special niece, Carol Patton; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Zip Wells, age 63 of Inez, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Kings Daughters in Ashland. Born July 3, 1949 in Johnson County to the late Edgar Wells and Rebecca Preston Wells. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar Wells Jr, Larry Wells and Jimmy Ronald Wells. Zip is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra Wells of Inez; one son, Stewart (Lisa) Wells of Inez; one grandson, Justin Wells of Inez; one grand daughter, Danielle May of Inez; one great grand daughter, Miranda Cline of Inez; two brothers, Gary (Linda) Wells of Flat Gap, Herbert (Jackie) Wells of Brooksville, Ohio and three sisters, Darlene (Dean) Blair of Leander, Christine Hall of Campton, Jewell Wells of New York. Zip was also blessed with a host of sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews who were very compassionate and caring for Zip before and during his battle of health problems including cancer. Zip was a retired surface miner and carpenter. Zip was an avid hunter and farmer prior to his battle with cancer.

James (Jimmy) Castle, age 70 of Inez, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his home. Born February 24, 1942 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Envis and Madgie Vanhoose Castle. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Castle; one brother, Prentice Hubert Hearon Castle; and a sister, Phyllis Charles. Jimmy is survived by two sons, James E. Castle and Scott Castle both of Inez; one daughter, Sherry Castle of Inez; two grandchildren, Jordan and Brooklyn Castle of Inez; and a niece, Kim Charles also of Inez.
Jimmy was a welder in the mines and a former deputy under Ray Fields. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Born October 1, 1928 in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Jay and Nannie Williamson Justice. Wayne is survived by two sons, Bruce Edward and Vadie Justice and Dwight David Justice, Jr and Amy both of Kermit; three daughters, Lois Ann and Daniel Ray Lytton of Kermit, Tammy Diane and Archie Johnson of Kermit and Mary Lou and Daniel Perry also of Kermit; three brothers, Eugene Justice and Leon Justice both of Kermit and J.P. Harmon was a Minister and a member of the Golden Springs Freewill Baptist Church. He was also a WWII Veteran.

Lila (Granny Bo) Lewis, age 70 of Van Lear passed away Monday, November 19 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born February 15, 1942 in Floyd County to the late Willie Shepherd and Lula Hale. She is preceded in death by her parents and one son, Michael Joe Lewis. William Harvey Jude, age 55, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in South Williamson. Born April 5, 1957, he was the son of the late Harvey and Annie Fletcher Jude. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, John David Jude; and one sister, Kathy Sue Jude. He is survived by three nieces, Jessica Brewer, Becky Stepp and Deeanna Noel.

Melvin E. Muncy, age 65 of Kermit, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at his home. Born November 24,1946 he was the son of the late Calvin and Gracie Messer Muncy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Trent and Verdie Messer; and two brothers, Coolidge and Curtis Muncy. He is survived by his wife Betty Chafin Muncy; one daughter, Joyce Hinkle of Louisa; one brother, Floyd Muncy of Kermit; one sister, Edna Short of Huntington; and one grandson, Melvin Randie Alexander Messer.
Melvin was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was also of the Baptist Faith, a former preacher, deacon, and assistant pastor. He will be sadly missed by his family, a slew of nieces and nephews, friends and all who knew and loved him. Willie Messer and Jerry Messer officiating.

Irene Endicott Johnson, age 80 of Inez, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her home. Born July 27, 1932 in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Susie Webb Endicott. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Johnson {February 11, 2003}; two sisters, Tillie Roush and Juanita Endicott; and two brothers, Arnold and Otto Endicott. She is survived by five sons, Bennie, Dennie, Danny, Virgil and Marvin Johnson all of Inez; four daughters, Diann Maynard of Inez, Connie Crozier of St. Louisville, Ohio, Dotty Fletcher of Inez, and Debbie Bowes of Alum Creek, WV; seven sisters, Monette Horn of Louisa, Julie Hammond of Marion, Ohio, Helen Hinkle of Louisa, Evelene McCoy of Columbus, JoAnn Layne of Marion, Bessie Howard of Marion, and Marie Fitch also of Marion; six brothers, James Endicott of Tennessee, Ralph Endicott of Louisa, Howard Endicott of Marion, Ohio, Wilburn Endicott of Inez, Billy Ray Endicott of Louisa, and Clifford Endicott of Warfield; twenty three grandchildren, thirty two great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Irene was a member of the Zion Pack Bottom Church. She was a home maker and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. Irene and her late husband James had a love of gardening and canning. They had so much pleasure sharing their abundance with family and friends. Family meant everything to James and Irene and now they are together again. Irene will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Franklin Dennis Delong, age 25 of Tomahawk, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at his dad's house in Pikeville. Born April 12, 1987 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of Robert Delong, Jr of Pikeville and Irene Muncy Delong of Tomahawk. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step mother, Tammy Delong; two sons, Jonathon and Jeremiah Delong of Tomahawk; and Kristin Nicole Delong also of Tomahawk; a step brother, Joshua Bentley of Pikeville; two step-sisters, Whitley and Taylor Bentley both of Pikeville. He is preceded in death by his baby brother, Jeremiah Delong; his paternal grandparents, Robert (Potsie) and Nola Delong; his maternal grandparents, Jeff and Charlotte Muncy; his aunt, Brenda Gail Cruise; and uncle, Jeffery Muncy.

Charles Osborne, age 85 of Circleville, Ohio formerly of Inez, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his home. Born January 13, 1927 in Stidham, KY, he was the son of the late Bessie (Spence) and Elijah Osborne. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wives, Magdalene (Webb) Osborne and Ruby (Baldwin) Osborne; one grand son, Aaron Osborne; sisters, Myrtle Preston and Belva Osborne; and brother, Grover Osborne. He is survived by six children, Charles E. Osborne (Terri Beairsto) of Inez, James C. Osborne of Inez, Dallas R. Osborne (Darlene) of Columbus, Ohio, Daniel W. Osborne (Patty) of Crestline, Ohio, Patricia L. Zapien (Dan) of Circleville, Ohio, Deborah K. Duncan (Eddie) of Ashville, Ohio; one sister, Goldia Chaffins; fourteen step grandchildren, 12 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; and one special step granddaughter, Tracy.
Charles retired from his job as Maintenance Supervisor 20 years ago, but he was also a carpenter, a teacher, and a homebuilder among other jobs in his life. He was much respected and well known in the community for his knowledge and skill about cabinetry and woodworking. Many of his former students still remember and use the skills he passed on as a wood shop teacher. He served in the armed forces for both WWII and Korean War. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, and the Cold War Ribbon. He was a lifetime member of the DAV.

Harry Clint Nichols, age 76 of Inez, KY passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at St, Mary's in Huntington, WV. Born August 31, 1936 in Mingo County, he was the son of the late Willie Nichols and Tennessee Prater Nichols. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by step children, Chester Dotson and Dafany Linn Dotson; and several siblings.
He is survived by his wife Avonell Jude Nichols of Inez; two step sons, Kester Dotson and Brian Eric Dotson both of Inez; one step daughter; Amy Dotson of Inez; one brother, Billy Nichols of Ohio; and four step grandchildren.
